Seems my options for playing AC Brotherhood on PC are:

No VSYNC, 200+ fps, massive tearing

VSYNC on, massive stuttering despite the framerate showing 60fps

and not only that, but every time I quit the game (through the game menu) it's a lovely "ACBSP.EXE has stopped working" every time...

Must be an AMD issue. Ubisoft games are slanted towards nvidia, and I get no stuttering whatsoever with my GTX 780 or the 680 I used prior to that.

When I used 7970s I recall AC2 Brotherhood stuttering but only if I used SSAA. Don't do that if you are - use application preference straight across the board in your CCC. But if your stuttering persists it's an AMD issue. The game runs amazingly well on the NV side, and you can use SGSSAA for even better graphics.

With regard to your error message, if you're using MSI afterburner with overlay, the overlay causes crashes when you exit or alt tab. It does this on NV hardware as well. I always exit the OSD and ensure it is not running, generally speaking. Either way, I do not get these issues you speak of.
