WoW (as usual)

What class should I be this time? I will be rolling around with a Priest at all times. I would like to play either a Hunter or a Rogue this time around because I don't want to ever be asked to heal ever again. I don't enjoy the Warrior class and I don't want to be in a cloth duo so......

Hunter or Rogue? My thinking is Hunter because we would then basically have a primary tank (Bear), a dps (Hunter), and a dps/healer (Shadow Priest). Seems like the perfect duo to me for both PvE and PvP....

Thoughts?

I've had a 60 Rogue (combat swords) for 4 months now and it's been awesome. Up to rank 10 and climbing... love it for pvp and it simply destroys the dmg meter in UBRS (I haven't had the hours at a time to raid higher).

I also have a 40 Warlock now... haven't worried about gear for leveling. Extremely fun to play - just so many things to play with... and they own in pvp... even rogues... I don't go near locks or warriors as a rogue.

Hunters... bah easy mode. Stand back in the crowd and giggle.

having played both a rogue and hunter i'd say go...i dunno. i liked the hunter better because i could lay the smack down, but sneaking around griefing people is fun too.

For almsot 2 yars now, I've played my hutner exclusively. I've gotetna few alts up to level 20 or so, but they all bore me.

I agree with your hunter assessment. If you're rolling with a priest, you've almost got a Tank/DPS/Healer trio with the 2 of you. Warlocks are also an option, but my wife really doesn't enjoy her 'lock as well as I like my hunter. But those Void Walkers do make nice tanks, as well - and Warlocks still wtfpwn everyone in PvP.

hunter! so much more fun than a rogue. The need to keep people far away and the different ways to do it (wing clip, traps, scatter shot, intimidation, etc.) make it alot of fun in 1v1 and 2v1 fights.

Getting good with it seems alot more rewarding than rogue IMO....at least in non-battlegrounds.

granted i play on a pvp server..if you dont, might be a mute point.

I've already leveled a few characters up in the 50s on PvP servers and finally decided that I'm going to play PvE this time. Why? So I can xp without being annoyed and go to the BGs when I feel like it. I just don't have the time I used to so I can't deal with bored idiots ganking me in the middle of places like Freewind Post.

Anyway, I'm leaning towards Hunter right now but still may go Rogue. I would have already decided but my realm is one of those that is stuck being worked on right now. I signed up again this week and the realm that my friends are on has been down for like 48 hours. 😛

I've played a Hunter since I picked up the game a year ago. It was a broken class then and it still is now, granted its better now then it was.

I won't rant here about whats wrong with Hunters, butyou should read the forums @ the Wow website to see the current list of gripes.

If endgame material is what you have in mind, I'd pick a rogue.

good thing you said current because no one will ever be happy no matter what they do.

I find my hunter alt (43) rather boring to be honest. But then my main is a shaman and I don't mind healing when it's needed, so the OP and I likely have very different takes on the game and he may well enjoy a hunter - god knows billions of night elves do... 😉 If you do go hunter, the beast mastery spec really turns your pet into a monster, though of course you sacrafice dps for it. As a "trio" of tank, dps and healer though this might be your best bet - the difference this spec makes is absolutely remarkable in your pet's tanking ability. Hunter pets make far better tanks than warlocks' voidwalkers (my lock alt is 42).

Hunters are fine, people enjoy complaining about the game. Essentially they get used to mowing down mobs in PvE, then when they have a 50/50 shot against someone in PvP (or worse, if the person is better geared or more skilled), they claim imbalance because it's not what they're used to. The only really glaring imbalance with the game is soul link specced warlocks, they're a bit too strong at 60 and if you read the forums, the only people who disagree are... soul link specced warlocks 😉

I haven't played in over a year, but i had a 60 hunter and really enjoyed the class. I couldn't stand sneaking around as a rogue, just moved too slow for me.

So, I ended up going with the ROGUE (edited because I am dumb 😛). I'm currently a level 13 dwarf (just because I love saying 'BRILLIANT!') and I'm using a 1h sword MH / dagger OH. I finally got the stance sets mod to switch my weapons around depending on if I'm stealthed or not but I'm wondering if any of you know of a way to quick swap weapons on the fly? A macro perhaps? Basically, if I lose agg, I want to be able to quick swap my dagger to MH so I can backstab and then switch back once I regain aggro.

And yes, I am still running around a priest buddy who is also level 13... and we all know how shadow priests love to pull aggro. 😛

Try ItemRack

At 60 with about 10 different gear configurations it's one of those *absolute necessity* mods for me, but it's easy & simple enough to use to suit your purposes. I use it for my twink warr to switch between 2h and 1h/shield as wel.

I think you meant Rogue. 😉

Another vote for ItemRack. I'm not sure of the mechanics of switching weapons when in combat and such, but ItemRack is a solid and useful mod all around. Without it, I'd have a hard time changing from my PvP crit gear to my tank top and boy shorts for some sexy female dwarf IF dancing!

The point can't speak?? Poor poor point 🙁

Hint: It's MOOT point

I got:

Stormreaver: Human Priest, Gnome Warlock, Night Elf Druid
Gul'dan: Orc Warrior, Undead Rogue

I love them all personally. You can find fun in anything you play if you play it right.

<--- quit WoW a few weeks ago after being an officer in one of the top raiding guilds on my realm for approx 8 or 9 months.

I played a 60 druid, 60 warrior, and 60 lock.

Due to my feral gear, my druid was pretty wicked ... (13K armor and 6.5K hitpoints in Bear form with tank gear, about 1100 AP with DPS gear in cat form, 7K mana pool and 600 +healing with healing set on. My "hybrid set" got me about 1K ap in cat, 11K armor + 6K hitpoints in bear, 300+healing and 5.5K mana self buffed.)

I think I may have pissed off the guild MT once also, because with chimera food and raid buffs in my tank gear ... I got up over 8400 hitpoints, which was more than his full tier 2 set with the same buffs.

I got really bored of the warrior. I imagine with better gear, he would have been better at DPSing or tanking ... but with his ZG blues/purples and pure prot spec .... my Druid was FAR better at both.

My lock was a mean mofo. I played with all the different trees, and all of the popular builds before quitting. I never really geared him up too much (ROTV, a couple of pieces from MC, then some select blues/greens.) I loved that toon.

perhaps I'll play when Burning Crusades comes out ... but I don't think I'll ever be big into raiding again.

EDIT: also, I had a 57 pally (was my first toon, really horrible class to play IMO.) I had a 46 mage, 35 hunter, a 42 mage on another realm, and a BUNCH of level 1-30 toons across several realms.)
I got bored with the Mage and Rogue pretty quickly, The Hunter was a fun class, very easygoing and sorta mindless entertainment, and at a good pace, but it was the very last class I tried. I would have definatly leveled the hunter to 60 if I had continued to play.
