Wow, apparentally, arranged marriages DO work!

It took you that long to find out, Amol? :Q For as long as both parties mutually agree to what they expect from the marriage and what to give, it is perfectly fine.

Congratulations to your parents!

Mine was arranged, too. I got back from a short deployment and my now father in law told me I was going to Reno to marry his daughter. The facts:

I was enlisted.
She is the daughter of an officer, O5 at the time.
We were fvcking. She was pregnant. (miscarried later)
She was only 17.

We're still happily married now almost 14 years later. We were in love to begin with so it worked out for us.

i am going through this process currently, its truly frustrating to meet/see photos of different chics and deciding on the 'one', sure the system works, but going thru it its painful, trust me

Thank you for waking up a 2 month old thread 😛

My uncle (my father's brother) and aunt are on year 25 of an arranged marriage.

My other uncle married for love and got divorced after 20years.

If you grow up with the knowledge that you do not get a choice in your future partner you learn to live with it. And if you are always taught that divorce is sinful then you are less likely to take that route, even if you are unhappy.

Whats wrong with arranged marriages ??
As long as the other person is not hideous, you can learn to love each other.

How many times, 2 people go through the usual courtship and once they get married, one or both totally changes.

my parents are on year 26 of non-arranged marriage.
arranged or not, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Quite a few ignorant remarks made here. Many here fail to see that arranged marriages happen in all cultures, NOT just within Indian culture. China, Pakistan, middle eastern culture, even some redneck american's do it- just on the dl.
