Wow, apparentally, arranged marriages DO work!

Only on ATOT are discussions about arranged marriages, rice cookers, the smell of curry, and polls about which aerospace company is the best, common. Here's to a bunch of nerds! Seriously, I remember a thread a long time ago about a guy who was considering an arranged marriage.
 
perhaps it's because arranged marriages occur in cultures with different values, - another result of those values is less behavior that results in divorces?

no stats... just a thought.

congratulations... last month was my parents 40th aniversary and my grandparents 70th aniversary ... arranged marriages definately work 🙂

They do. Cultures that have arranged marriages have less tolerance for divorces. I'm sure that arranged marriages are, on average, worse than non-arranged, but anyway some of them work so congrats to the OP's 'rents!
 
There are marriages in WoW? I guess that explains the vendor in booty bay who sells expensive but entirely useless rings.
 
Still married != happy with each other.

How many arranged marriages have spouses cheating because neither one really loves the other and were only married because their parents forced them to and divorce is not an option....?

I think most arranged marriages are somewhere beteen the two.... moderately content at best.


But I am happy your parents are still together, happy and in love, and not meeting "Barbara in a motel by the turnpike". 😉
 
I think some (a lot?) of arranged marriages "work" because there's way too much social stigma attached to divorce in the cultures that have them.

arranged marriages work for indians who were brought up in india. i dont think arranged marriages would work for indians who grew up in America (for the most case)
