No shit. It was a conference for their best customers. Every industry has these kind of conferences, usually funded by sponsors for the most part.

Ditto, but I still think it was in bad taste. Nero, may not have been playing a happy tune, however, he was still just fiddling away.

In related news, banks treat their highest net worth customers with bentley car service, private jet transport and all kinds super-rich-OMGZZ-dmcowen's-libnut-rage luxuries. If it cost you $500K, but you make $1M off the client, it's probably a good idea.

Also this is a prime time example why no one wants government running private companies - you'll end up with digg.com running all fortune 500 members,

It doesn't matter if it cost AIG $10. They're feeding at the public trough nowadays and using taxpayers' money to fund these kinds of affairs.

The story on last night's news about this said AIG had instructed the hotel to keep it "hush-hush" that AIG was having the "party" but local news people got wind of it and went with the story.

I'm the first to throw up my arms in disgust at excessive corporate expense, but this seems like a non-issue. Companies have to spend money to support their profit centers, and often this includes events like this.

The sad part is that the amount of real corruption and expense isn't likely to see the light of day, so we merely get a glimpse.

Agreed, but these kinds of things are just pissing it away like they've always done.

Want to continue doing business as usual, back away from the taxpayer-funded public trough.
