WoW and insane pings on broadband wth?

Hi guys, got my rig built and everything and runs WoW nicely. For some reason though, I get ridiculously high pings. Like sometimes it's at 125 others it's almost near 2000. No idea why this is, I remember on my old computer it was like 60. Anyone have any earthly idea why this could be. Just to add, this new computer has Norton internet Security.

do some traceroutes if you can, check your download and upload speeds, and check your ping to other places...

Tried a difference server?

I get the same thing playing any online game I try (mostly Battlefield 1942 and Counter Strike : Source). During the evening my internet craps out and I ping over 100 constantly to EVERY single server (even one's located in NYC where I normally ping 10-40 on, because I live here haha). RoadRunner is such crap, uchhhh...

My ISP is Roadrunner. As far as different servers, I'm in Texas so i should ping pretty decently to them all. People who i know live in the east pinger better than I do on it. This has never happened before. Can you tell me how to do a traceroute?

Well your cable is shared with others, more users=more traffic. What is your ping like at say, 3-4am?
I have Adelphia Powerlink get about 4500 down/440 up with priority ping around 25-80 on most games.

go to DSLreports.com I think they have a line quality test, ping test, bandwidth test and some others. For traceroute you need to know the IP of the server then you can get a traceroute program (I use UO Trace form the Ultima Online days) and it will ping all the hops from your computer to the server then you can poll them to get averages and see if there is any packet loss

Roadrunner will oversubscribe (to many people on a node) areas. It happened here and lasted for 5 months. You need to call and email their tech support daily. Ask for credits for poor service. Also, complain loudly on DSLreports.com. But first make sure its not your system. Be prepared to switch to another ISP. Let us know how it goes.

i have charter.
if it is your connection than call your isp and have a chat.
if its your comp you probably have virus's

I recommend going with some type of Extreme DSL option. I have Bellsouth FastAccess DSL Extreme and I average about 2.8 - 3.0 mbps downstream. BTW I switched from Roadrunner to this. The speed is what you get on cable except that you don't share your bandwith with other users.
