We got the whole town cheering for one of its own, Stacy Dragilla, the world record holder for women pole vault. I hope she brings home the gold.

An olympian from my home town (where I grew up, Olive Branch, MS) DID bring home the gold they year he competed. His name was Kennedy McKinney, and he won the gold in BOXING. His mother was a janitor at my school, and she wore his gold medal every day, except the day HE wore it to our school, wearing his olympic jumpsuit, and I got to meet him and touch the medal. It was one of the ONLY memories I have of middle school.

Pocatello:

No need to cross your fingers, because Dragila is a mortal lock for a medal. She would have to break a leg to NOT medal. She is pretty much head, shoulders, and cross bar above everyone else, except for Balakhonova and fellow American Kellie Suttle (Ozzie George didn't qualify for finals). She holds both the indoor and outdoor world records, so, I'd say Gold is very possible. Nice to see women doing the pole vault. Great event.
