WoW after a mount - depressing.

So I started WoW for fun to connect with some friends and just relax - after all computer games are a great way to unwind after reading thesis after thesis day in and day out.

I started to get really into WoW on winter break though - I played for hours a day - everything was focused on getting a mount. I wouldn't say it consumed me because I didn't let it - I still have a girlfriend and a good GPA after all. 😉

But now that I have gotten a mount (in the last few days) I have felt like there is no point to WoW and it is boring - minus riding the mount around a bit and letting lower level people feel bad like I once did.

I think I just need to feel like I am being challenged and at least relaxing or doing something productive other wise I get listless - and with WoW I feel it doesn't fulfill those categories. Basically it's grinding to get a fictious level that indicates you were able to waste/spend the most time playing the game. To me that isn't fun anymore.

Will I delete my account? Probably not. Sigh.

Any of you have any thoughts on WoW? Even though this is sort of a R since like 50 ATOTers come to this realization every few months.

Outlands is fun for me.

It was pretty boring before the expansion though, and as for wastes of time.. just be glad you didn't get into the raiding scene. Screw you Naxx... what a timesink that was. Not worth my freshman year of college.

To OP: Exactly. I ask grinders how they stand it and their standard reply is: 'But it will get funny once I hit X'.
No it won't :/ It'll just become harder to grind.

Just gotta set goals for yourself. First it was your mount, next maybe leveling to 70, after that, gearing up. You just have to aim for something or the game will get boring really quick.

Sort of like real life, huh? Except that there's a lot more flashy stuff going on all around you, and you don't get paid.

MMO's cater to a certain mindset of gamer. Some have fun working together to defeat challenging encounters in the game, others live to cause hell for other players. If neither of these sounds interesting, you may be better off in a FPS, RTS, or other "jump in and start playing" types of multiplayer games.

I played 5 toons to level 60 and did the whole molten core/blackwing lair thing for a few months. All I can say about your boredom is maybe try different classes and try not to repeat quests. Are you alliance? play horde. Get your crafting skills maxed out. Try getting your fishing to 300. (better drink a lot of coffee for that task) plqy the auction house stock market. 40 man raids are fun because it takes so much time to get your techniques down. This was a social game for me until I couldn't bare the thought of another night in Blackwing Lair. I haven't been back. Although, my son bought the expansion, I may poke around in there a bit.

Yep, same thing when I hit 40. Now I play my new Draenei hunter more than my paladin. Can't play much though because I have a job now and spend 2 hours a day commuting. That adds up to 11 hours just for work.

I'm confused. You are bored because you got a mount? Is it because your goal was to get a mount? Hopefully you know that the mount you just bought is really really slow compared to the one you get at 60.... (new goal! 😛)
