ok so I am not REALLY addicted - I mean I still do homework - infact im in the library right now. I am wondering where past WOW players go from WOW though? What is there beyond it? I already got a g/f, I already go out, but I still play WOW. Is there life after it? Can we, as a species have "fun" after The Barrens? Help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you've got a girlfriend, you go out with friends, and you're still on track with school and whatever else, then what's the problem?

Yeah, it's when it starts interfering with all that other stuff that you have to worry. Sounds like you're in control

WOW is a waste of time. You spend all this time trying to level twoards a mythical goal (60) and then you will just quit one day.

Ok I lied... its really because I dont play 12 hours a day like the rest of the people I know that play it so I feel inadequate. Plus I accidently got my girlfriend addicted when she saw my Tauran in Thunderbluff.

I used to be an addict. Trust me, once you delete your character, and cancel your account, and give the account away, you will be WoW free forever. Good luck! :D

<- has been MMO sober for ~8 months.

One time I was working on a project in a computer lab til 3 in the morning. This guy was playing WoW there and he was all by himself. I got there at around 7 and he was already there. Playing. It was just me, a couple other people working on their project, and one guy in his little corner. Playing WoW.

Do you want to be that guy?

I don't think it's any more a waste of time than any other video game. If it doesn't interfere with your life, which it sounds like it isn't, I don't see a problem. If you enjoy it, why deprive yourself of something you enjoy?

WoW is a very stupid game. i play MMOs and i would agree they are all pointless, but at least some of them have end game material. WoW simply sucks. it took a lot of everquest and dumbed it down so morons could play, thus causing only n00bs to buy it (which was a total success). you can pick out a WoW player from a mile away...do you really want to be that person?

here is my advice: STFU. seriously. its a computer game. i played everquest for 4 years and that game was 10x more addicting since there was a sh!tload of high level content. this is what happened when i quit..."i really should quit this game." *uninstall* --> end of that problem.

That's a good strategy, actually. WoW takes forever to install and patch, so you'll have a LOT of time to change your mind while re-installing it :)

lol, usually a GF will do it, or realize that you have a sh!tload of other entertainment obligations to take care of (must finish that DVD box set! must beat those singleplayer games I've bought! must watch the new shows I dl'ed! oh crap BSG is on!!")

i played WoW for 7 months. when you get to a point where you aren't having any fun anymore, thats when its easy to quit.

right now i'm not playing any MMOs and i do miss playing that type of game. just uninstall it and have your gf hide the discs if you're that worried about it.

Um.. the last 2 patches for WoW added PLENTY of end game content.

I quit and came back, but I play a couple times a week. it's just lower on my priority list of things to do. And I'm better for it.

I've seen MMO addiction before. Not with WoW, but with Ashrons Call in 2001. It was my former roommate who was the addict. He got fired from a tech support job that both of us had at the time. He said that he would find another job soon after getting fired, but he didn't. Instead he became hooked on Ashrons Call. He would have irregular eating and sleeping patterns. Sometimes going to bed in the morning and waking up at night. About 3 months after he was fired he still didn't have a job. The phone was cut off and then the DSL because he never paid the bills. I decided to move out soon after that. Everything was in his in his name, so I wasn't tied to the lease or the utilities.

Exactly, you'll just quit one day. Not long after 60 when the game ceases to be fun. It'll just fade on its own.

Either that or you'll become a hardcore raider and lose the gf, school work ethic, etc. But I doubt that 'cause raiding is lame as hell. Considering how much you say you play now it just won't work out anyhow. It's a second job.

When you are able to get addicted to any game at all, doesn't matter which, then you need to quit. Quit it all. I publically tossed every last video game I owned and donated my console to someone else a long time ago. You don't need it at all. What you need is a purpose that matters. You need to find that.

You know, I had a dream I was playing WoW... I dont even own a copy.

It is calling you.
I dont want to be addicted :(

Once you start, you will be changed. Im afraid if I quit now I will long for the windy plans of Mulgore.

Sigh.
