Just installed ONE 80mm Sunon fan(may buy one more)

case Temp 40c CPU Temp 47-48c BEFORE FAN FITTED

case Temp 33c CPU Temp 45c With one 80mm fan fitted.(reading taken right now)

case Temp 33c CPU Temp 43c IDLE

Should I buy another 80mm fan or do you think this is okay.Btw it`s a 900mhz T-bird.

Mem,

What case...and what fans did it have to start with before you added the 80 mm fan?

Okay ,I had no fans installed before this, apart from cpu heatsink/fan(Taisol) & PSU fan(Macron 300w Athlon approved) my case is a ATX midi tower about 17" tall(A simply computers case from simply.co.uk not the best case but does the job)) that is not cramped, anyway now I have a Sunon 80mm screwed into case between AGP card & CPU facing down so it`s cooling the board, cpu, probably the AGP card(Geforce2 MX).

I have room for one more fan at the bottom of case at the front(there is a plastic empty grill mount there(not sure how this comes of to install fan but it`s definetly for a fan.

To give you a idea of space only 2 pci slots full out of 6 ,only one harddrive, floppy,DVD rom in use ,so have two full size bays empty plus a small floppy bay empty.

I`ve just turned the fan round so it`s blowing cold air onto circuits(before it was blowing towards the side panel air vents)anyway Temperature is at 38c for case & 43c for cpu so this way it`s better for cpu but worst for case cooling.I think I will buy one more & have it the opposite way so it will extract air away from circuits towards the side panel Air vents.

Another two fans made about a 10c difference, one thing though, I couldn't stand the noise made by the Sunon fans, are yours noisy mem?

AMB,no it is not noisy(only have one 80mm fan) might order another tomorrow, btw I do have my case closed so this helps cut the low noise down.

UPDATE- just ordered another 80mm Sunon Fan so that should be enough.

I have a CUSL2 w/ 800EB in mine w/ a stock Intel HSF and 80mm Case fan at 32-33 degrees C.

Today, I went to my new 120MM YS Tech blowing out the front, put on the new PAL35T (60mm YS Tech) with Arctic Silver.
Then I put on a 80mm Sunon inside on the back of the case blowing on top of the PAL and another below it sucking out.
My temps are NOW reading 19 C to 23 C . Did I miss something or is this probably right? By the way, now my den sounds like a darn server farm.....

Hi Mem...

I've got the same case as you (from Simply - 3 5.25's, 2 3.5's, 80mm upfront, two 60's in the back???). It can be modified to hold a 120mm upfront (got a 120mm Sunon@7v there at the mo) and can actually fit one 80mm exhaust in the back. I'd recommend (if you don't wanna cut it up) that you put an 80mm upfront, and buy a 60mm to go in one of the back mounts for the case....that way the airflow should balance out once the power supply exhaust is taken into account. Good wee case, I gonna see if I can fit a watercooling rig into it now.....:D

cheers

Tweakr Thanks! I`ve another 80mm Sunon on the way so will probably try different places for cooling & see which gives me the best temperature reading anyway right now overclocking my Geforce2 MX (see my post heading in Video section for my latest updates ) so will probably get even more fans at a later date.
