Read this back in January, not one of the funnier things on Cracked. What did she expect? People looking for values on OKCupid? It's a bunch of guys on OKCupid playing the numbers game? Attractive dumb chick? See if she'll sleep with me right away? Sure why not. Fail article is fail. :p

The character she made seems more like a goofball than some horrible person, but maybe that's because I already know its a troll.

Those messages people sent her make me cringe.

She thinks guys judge her on her biography, when really all they look at is the profile pic and physical measurements.

Oh...and "Men of the world: You are better than this." makes me :\

Hot girl want's to prove how shallow men are...so she posts a fake flirty profile of a shallow hot girl to see how desperate men are to pound something attractive.

Girl secretly want's attention.

Girl succeeds.

The cycle continues...and men lose.

It's like high school alllll over again. D: Thanks for being a troll and teasing the nerds!

She comes across stupid, drunk, drugged and slutty and then wonders why guys might want to hook up? The stupid part wasn't an act, she has to be fully brain-damaged to not understand the connection.

Except it was actually a guy's profile.

That's the cry of desperation. How was this a troll post? I don't think you know what trolling means.

My bad, I thought the author was a guy and used his female friend's picture.

Either way, no one in their right mind even if just wanting a ONS would reply to this other than those out of utter desperation.

I must have missed it even on my initial read? I don't get it. A guy's profile? It's a female author writing an article about a fake female profile?

I once knew a guy who made a couple accounts using a fake picture of a guy's highly ripped six pack.

The first account was not only extremely poorly written and vapid, but also highly self-deprecating. He made a very conscious effort to look as unappealing as possible. He even said that his face (not shown in the profile) was really ugly. It was MUCH worse than the fake profile in this article.

The second account was just his normal account with the alternate picture.

They both got tons of messages from women. The first one got women who sounded really dumb. The second one got a lot of messages where the woman actually went at great lengths to explain she doesn't just care about looks and that the message is based on the content of the profile. Suffice it to say, his original profile never got messaged by anyone (I wouldn't say he was especially unattractive either).

Does this say something about women on OKCupid? Not really. You make a particular type of profile to bait people and you'll get a particular type of audience who's drawn in by it. 150 men (ignoring any repeat messages) may seem like a lot but that isn't even remotely close to representative of OKCupid's male membership. It's also not a huge number for a new account to get, especially in an area with a huge population like LA.

The guy I knew who made these fake profiles may have not been especially impressed by the results, but he never drew a conclusion about what women on the site were universally like (although he did want to try to get more ripped as a result..) She really looks like an idiot who can't understand this in her "men of the world" address.

It's a fake profile, doofus.

So change the She to a He and the point is the same doofus. That profile he/she created is exactly the sort of person the losers on those types of sites WANT to find and then he/she wonders about why it worked to attract losers. He/she threw blood in the water and sharks came swimming, WTF else was supposed to happen?

If he/she wanted to truly create a "dating profile so loathsome that no man would message it" he/she should have grown a single brain cell and figured out that men on that site would want stupid, drunk and slutty about all else. The "dating profile so loathsome that no man would message it" would include phrases like "virgin saving myself for marriage, looking for same", "I take care of my elderly mother, want man to help changing her diapers" and "I'll lose the weight someday".

Holy shit, hot girl with [insert any adjective here] profile gets a lot of responses! Alert the press. Looks > everything when it comes to online dating, especially when it comes to women looking for men. Nobody gives a fuck if you like to dress up your stupid dog as long as you're hot. There's this stupid misconception that beauty is only skin deep that is driven by liberal fat feminists who can't get anyone with their "amazing personality". This is BS when it comes to online dating. Beauty is everything when it comes to these profiles. A woman could write the perfect profile but if she's below average looking, she's going to get 1/100 of the responses of someone hot. This needs to be codified into the Internet Dating 10 Commandments.

BTW, alke single so soon? Why are you wasting your time reading about online dating if you're happily taken? hmmm.

That seems to go against the reality of guys and replies unless the guy reported his income at the $100k or higher mark.

I got a good amount of replies from my ads. I was honest, even admitted I liked computers and crap. Said I disliked watching sports, but liked playing them and that got the most focused replies. This was even when I was overweight or in school full time and unemployed (I went to school again at 30, most of the women I was meeting on campus were really 'girls' fun to play with, but not stimulating).

The key is a decent picture, showing your body a bit without being stupid, being honest or at least honest enough that you can pull off in person.

That said my friends that were lawyers, doctors and business owners that put pics of their homes, cars, boats and listed their incomes got tons of replies. They were also in shape though mostly. One that was a real fat-fuck seemed to get the most chicks though, I think he dealt in cocaine and stuff though. I stopped hanging out with them when just weird shit would happen like phone calls that sounded violent and random traffic stops when we were out.

How is reading Cracked reading about online dating?

How about let's keep L&R to L&R and I won't talk about your love for men's rectums.

Some years ago when this "scheme" was still new, guys made fake accounts/ads on classified sites. They then set up auto email responders telling the HUNDREDS of guys who emailed the "girl" that she's signed up with adult friend finder where they can see her entire profile and chat with her. (Obviously the AFF or whatever links were affiliate links). People made A KILLING with this scheme since AFF or whatever dating site paid them for each sign-up/registration.

So touchy. I await your L&R post update with baited breath.

I'm surprised you didn't realize that the most valuable currency in online dating is looks and measurements (like height). Intelligence is a plus, but optional.

Not so touchy but letting you know L&R should stay in L&R.

She is actually right next to me as I type this and wondered how reading Cracked means I am looking for girls. We also are having a teenage sleep over so we are sticking to my home office all day/night.

The most valuable currency in online dating for a woman is looks/measurements/money. For a guy it's mostly money.

You are the touchy one though, probably living a life with a woman that just wants her bills paid and doesn't put any sex out.

I'd find something to make yourself happy bro, you seem very miserable.

Projecting your feelings onto others again I see. I'm so miserable. Why are you so miserable, alke? /chuckle

I'm wondering why you created this thread in the first place if you agree that physical beauty is all that matters in online dating.
