I always use this tailor, because he's damn good.

2 pairs of pants, hemmed, cuffed and tapered.
1 suit, jacket sleeves shortened; pants hemmed, cuffed and tapered.

$109.

This guy is making out like a bandit.

He's certainly worth it though. Good tailors are hard to find.

Just a bit of a shock when I looked at the bill.

eh, my fiance just had 2 pants done and it was either 40 or 60 for both. doesn't seem that outrageous considering the jacket. That is like $30 for each item...not that much considering you can wear them comfortably now :p

thats quite reasonable for what you had done. I've paid about $20 in the past just to get a pair of slacks shortened. Things such as tapering and cuffing take quite a bit of work to do right.

If I was charging $109 for that much of my time spent I couldn't live like I do and it's not great ;)

However, I have been to hadadasheries (sp definitely) that had a lot of people in the backroom working.

Huh..that's actually really cheap imo. I'm having 2 shirts tightened up for $150 and a relining of a coat for $200 but yes, he's damned good.

the place that I buy my suits from does all these for free, done in 2 days too, and all their tailors are old italian guys, so you know they will do a good job.

Pants tapering and shortening of sleeves is probably the bulk of the cost. Especially if the buttons on the sleeves are functional or have 'fake' holes, as I understand it.
