Wouldn't it be nice if....

First of all, on which port does the Messenger Service in Windows XP run? I'd love to backfire about 1000 messages to each message that I receive. A small daemon which is running in the background and if you get a message, that message will be blocked and a reply will be sent to that IP Address with something like "Go spam yourself". I know it's immature, get over it already.

agree... i just got another 4 of those today. I'm used to getting dozens of spam emails per day.. but those windows messenger ads are really pushing my buttons.

I just did a packet capture and it seems to solely use port 135

nice 🙂 I'm going to bed now but that'll be a task for the next week 😀

Get a firewall and block them. Get Tiny Personal Firewall if you can still find the original 2.4 release that was free. Works like a cisco access list. Good stuff.

I think even Windows XP has a "Port blocking" software integrated, not talking about the "Firewall".

I just disabled the messenger service. *shrugs* I just thought it was easier.

It's easier but maybe if they get backfired buy a couple of people, they think twice about that stupid spamming. On a second thought, what if they install that program? 🙂

You be playing ping pong and with each hit, 1000 messages become 1000²... who needs DOS attacks to shut down internet servers when the messenger will do it instead 😀
