microsoft let us deactivate windows. this way when you need to reinstall windows, you can just deactivcate windows and reinstall and then activate it again, this would eliminate the need to call microsoft and you would be able to reactivate it again. that's just what i think.share your opinions

I suppose MS would still have to be on call, but it might save them and the customer a lot of work if the customer remembers to deactivate before installing Windows again.
 
Why don't they just put a credit card reader into the 5 inch slot.
Then when you want to activate windows, just swipe your card.

Cuts the phone company out of the picture, and all those jobs.

 
Microsoft is going to do something very similar to that with the Anytime Upgrade. Say you purchase a Home Basic key and want to upgrade to Home Premium or Ultimate. You'll be able to buy the key online and use your existing media to do the install (since the key unlocks the SKU from the image on the DVD).
