wouldn't a X850XT PE for $460 be a no-brainer ?

they should be available end of the year or first week of january.

Lists starting at $458 for the retail ATI X850XT PE. WHich is $100 under MSRP.

Since the X800XT is MORE expensive (of course nowhere to find) and the X850XTPE about 10% faster....and a Geforce 6800 GT pci-e is nowhere in sight, or definatly NOT as low as $458 (like the X850XT PE)...isn't the purchase of the X850XT PE a nobrainer ??

It looks like the ONLY soon available high-end pcie card to a *relatively* normal price...

I'd also go with the X850XT (no "PE" needed)...but i cant see them anywhere.

basically what Craig said, if ATI can actually "make" enough products then you might see them there, but if not look at 550+

compared to $600 - $800 for slower cards...yes 🙂

lets see if ATi can deliver this time. (haha)

word...lol...missed releases are becoming commonplace. don't get your hopes up. i'm going to be very surprised if stores actually put this card on sale for 458 or whatever...they wanna make as much money as possible on the early adopters. gl.

believing every PR blah-blah: No brain 🙂

this card is only marginally better in 3dmark (about 8% or so) compared to the x850xt, and this means without any AA and AF on.

It might be the card performs much worse when AA and AF is on, which i consider mandatory. Otherwise i dont see the point in getting a high-end card in the first place.

If the card performs as good/better as a x850XT with max image quality and AA, AND is cheaper...then it might get interesting.

Edit: they seem to take MSRP as reference...expect this card (i might err...well)...under the MSRP for the X850XT which (still) is $549. SO..this card could still be around $500 and (in games) being slower than a X850XT PE for $460...
(And there could be incompatibilities with the SLI modus and certain games)

I bought the x850 PE like the day after it was announced. So whethery they are widely available or not, I got mine. If they are rare and price goes up, no problems for me.

BTW- where do you get this "lists starting at $458" stuff? This card isn't on Pricewatch or availale?

Have you magically travelled through time to know when they'll be available in quantity and at what price?

If you are buying pci e, ati is a no brainer as nvidia has very little for sale on that platform. This was the year of poor yields or bad design.

Whats funny is, people act as if only ATi has supply issues. Try finding a 6800U PCI-E any where near MSRP. Heck, even AGP versions arent that easy to get at MSRP.

No this card is not 10% faster. It is right on par with an X800XT PE.

Seems to average 3% faster than a X800XTPE. Not worth anyones money with the exception of "THOSE WHO MUST HAVE IT RIGHT NOW!!!!" LOL

When this X850 actually hits retail in a meaningful way, it will certainly be priced above MSRP. I would take the word of these smaller sellers with a grain of salt. The big guys are going to get their hands on these cards first, and they will not be selling them $100+ below MSRP.
