After the first week you would get used to it. You might be able to write the suits off on your taxes as the employer requires them.

Question:

When your IT job is outsourced to India, will they be forced to wear suit and tie as well?

What is this crap? Just take the job you wimp. Time was a man wore a suit for any job that wasn't manual labor. A man used to wear a suit every day, regardless. A man used to put a suit on to go to the store. God forbid you look good and/or professional at work.

That's not much of a difference. Say something more like $65k doing something you hate and work with horrible people all day. But you get a lot of days off (say 4 weeks a year), and only work 8-5 no matter what, no late nights.

Versus A job you enjoy, that is relaxed, requires working late maybe once or twice a month, with 2 weeks off a year and pays $40k.

Now which do you choose...

I'd still go for the one I enjoy. I don't live beyond my means, and getting paid for something you enjoy is like getting paid for going on vacation every day :p

incorrect. this is only for "real" uniforms (fatigues, LEOs, factories, etc.)

It?s so true. Finding a job you like and suits you is hard to come by. Its especially nice when they pay well.

I currently work as a junior Project Manager/ IT Consultant. And I love it, great pay, benefits etc. But i was lucky to get my role, right place at the right time.

Another good quality in a job is "job security". Within IT, dependent on what you do/who you work for, your job can be very insecure due to the nature of the industry.

You know as well as I do that we pretty much do the exact same thing, and I have never worn a tie to work. In fact today I have on a polo that shows some tattoos and they don't really care. Quality of work > appearance.

I didn't say anyything about appearence etc.
If the "law" of the office is tie/suit and its a good job and something you "want" to do... then it shouldnt hinder you.

I'm just saying I work in IT and I wear a tie...

Man you are a jerkhole.

You're considering not taking a job because of its dress code? If you don't have any suits/ties, then yeah I guess the upfront costs of buying them might be a factor. I guess it depends on your other options, like someone else said.

33 paid days off sounds pretty good. Does that include sick days?

Unless you're the overweight IT nerd with long greasy hair, oversize glasses that are always slipping down your nose, and your wardrobe consists of 3 shirts and 1 pair of pants that are never washed. Sure you know your stuff, but you disgust people when you touch their keyboards.

If it's an IT management desk job, yes. If it's support, no. I've done those support job and also having to dress to impress the customer and having to move around in wire closets and equipment can really mess up your nice clothes. Get my nice shirt or jacket snagged on equipments or being on your knees with nice pants will ruin nice clothes faster than anything. Factor in cost of new nice wardrobe and drycleaning costs. There are plenty of job that pays well in IT and doesn't require dressing up. Any benes can be converted to $$$ amount and be compared. The only thing that really stood out for me here is 33 paid days off per year but does that include holidays? Most companies starts you out with 10 holidays and 3 weeks of vac/sick which is about 25 days - not bad.

I hope this job includes flying first class to exotic locations and servicing computers for hot secretaries over there.
Otherwise I'll be laughing while you are fishing for cables underneath a dusty desk in your suit and tie.
