Would you want to live forever?

If you "won a contest" (or something) and the prize was unending youth would you do it? Note that you could still be shot, have heart failure, suffocate, etc. Your parts just wouldn't age, so if you were careful-ish you would live forever. Why or why not? The way I see it is I can always make new friends...

No thanks. Sometimes life seems too long as it is, plus seeing all my friends and family age and die off while I did not, would be rather upsetting to me.

a lot of people say no to this question, but I think if really given the choice, few would actually refuse.
personally, why not. there is so much to learn and do in this world. and if I tire of it all, I could always end myself.

I think it would probably work out well. I assume that you would have the same odds of getting diseases and such. I doubt anyone would make it past ~150 years without getting cancer.

All the people around me that I love would grow old and die.

Then...

I would find new people and repeat.

considering the vast majority of my life would be spent after humans went exstinct... no.

I also believe that the mind ages with the body (and eventally grows old as well). If I was stuck in a young body, would my mind be not able to mature? I would not like that either

I already find this life tedious for the most part and I'm only 1/3 through it. Those high-end retirement apartments are looking better by the day.

Want to know what it's like to be around a million years? Ask a rock.

Sure. Has it's downside, but has its' upside as well.

Downside: Friends/Lovers dying

Upside: So many experiences, wealth, knowledge gained

No.

Our mortality is part of the human condition. It shapes our lives and makes life more worth living.

how would the humans become extinct? you can still die by several means so more than likely you would die also anyway.

its a tough decision.

Oops. I didn't read the OP first post carefully enough. I still would say no, but I wouldn't have to worry about the Earth exploding and floating in space for eons.

I voted yes. Simply because I would love to know I had time to read a ton more books, and watch a lot more movies. I would see everything, and read everything I could, that right now I just do not have the time for. It would also give me time to learn almost any career, and make a ton of money, without worrying about getting old and dieing. Of course there are negatives, like my wife getting old and dieing, and watching my kids do the same. And that constantly happening... reference Highlander. But if given the opportunity I would take it.

It would be really upsetting to see everyone of your friends and family die before you do, but I think I would stick around just to see how the world develops into the future.
