No way will I vote for a victocrat though.

funny. I see the Democrats as more libertarian than Republicans, even more so since so many Republicans feel like their the morality police over the last few years.

And Republicans are more in love with big government than Democrats, particularly the parts of big government that control people's lives.

anyway, I wouldn't vote Libertarian, anyone who would must not read their platform because it is wacked. They aren't actually libertarian, calling themselves that is fraud.

The Green party at least is honest.

http://www.lp.org/issues/platform_all.shtml

Even though I differ somewhat in a few spots like essential municipal services, government debt (not to current levels though, and the draft I find their platform much more acceptable than any other party currently.

Yes, the Green Party is honest about turning the US in to a defenseless 2nd to 3rd world (depending on how truely disasterous their economic programs are) socialist nation.

I'm registered independent because I like to make up my own mind. I will not vote for anyone simply based on their party/clout/money.

I'm sorry, how can you see the party of big government as more libertarian than the one that at least pretends to be for small gov't?

I agree that the republicans are becoming morality police though.

Because the "party of big government" wants smaller government than the "party of even bigger, no checks and balances, governemnt."

Calling the Democrats the "party of big government" is no different than saying only the Republicans can defend us from communism, terrorism, etc. It's entire crap, it's worse than that, it's turning the facts on their head.

I've seen plenty of democrats rallying for various government programs, and rarely calling for the repeal of any; I have heard vague statements about 'the defecit' but never a promise to cut spending.

Then you didn't pay attention during The Clinton, Carter, Kennedy, Truman, or Roosevelt presidencies. All of which repealed programs, and either made progress on the deficit, or even balanced it completely.

No, the real issue is, the Democrats want to spend money on education, children, healthcare, old people, things that really get in small-minded shelfish people's craw.

While Republicans talk about small government, while spending a lot more money on corporate welfare and taking care of the wealthy, which they get away with by hirng the best marketing people in the world to fool people into thinking that the opposite of the truth, is the truth.

There was no real deficit in the modern sense until Nixon. I liked Clinton, but he was pretty much a moderate in every sense -- a Democrat in label only. I also really like Truman, but Roosevelt? lol, he did not in an substantive way 'repeal' anything. His administration was the genesis of big gov't. Carter's economic policies are repulsive to libertarians. Wage and price controls!?!?!??!?!!?!?!??!?!?!? And Kennedy started an arms buildup bigger than Reagan's.

Yes republican corporate welfare is BAD, very bad. But it's not as bad as democratic programs because corporate bailouts are one time things -- they pretty much end up being a case by case thing. Democratic programs are designed to be institutionalized. MUCH harder to reverse or stop, since people get Dependant on them.

You're factually wrong about Roosevelt. He repealed a lot of stuff to fund WW2, and he was adamant about the importance of not running up the deficit.

And it was Nixon that introduced wage and price controls, not Carter.

And Kennedy took on the real Soviet Union, not the broken hulk that was left for Reagan to falsely claim credit for winning the Cold War. And Kennedy did so while cutting taxes, winning the space race, and cutting the deficit.

And if you think corporate welfare is about bailouts, you need to study up on where government spending really goes.

So your just completely wrong that Democratic plans are more institutional, corporate welfare is so embedded in government spending, you apparently can't even find it.

Huh? Libertarians are liberal on social issues, conservative on financial issues.

Do you have any idea what you're talking about? If you think legalization of drugs and prostitution is conservative (by current American standards) you're confused.

IMO, the libertarian party shouldn't even be a party...just an idealogy. If a libertarian wants to get elected, they should run as a republican...and they have...and it's worked. Most people I know who claim to be "republicans", are actually much closer to libertarians...they're just too hooked on the republican party and buy all the bs, hipocrisy, and excuses they spout for not getting the government out of our hair.

Edit: And for the record, I do know of a few nanny-state republicans...but not as many.
And I'm sure the democratic party who are so honest and so pro-American definitely need to be voted for.
Go home. Troll.

Learn to read, I said liberal on social issues and conservative on financial issues. Anyways point being, not all 'libertarians' think alike, some libertarians are fine with drugs, others aren't, I'm one of them.

Libertarian is the best of both worlds of Democrat and Republican. No economic or social controls.

Learn to read yourself, I was responding to HardcoreRobot who was incorrect on his assessment of Libertarians as conservative on both fiscal and social issues.
