my gf is a cheapskate. therefore, it would have been a plus for her. she's always hunting for bargains whenever she is looking to buy something and nags when i am about to waste a buttload of money. In the end, I love her for it. =)

this just in....at least half of ATOT are virgins.

In other news half think it is ok to use a coupon on a first date.

Crack scientists are working on the strange reason why there is a coorelation.

Probably not on the first few dates but as we got to know each other later on, we go thru the Entertainment book to find new places to go on our dates. She was cool with saving $$$ since she worked too and know it ain't easy to come by....yeah, I married her :)

only the buy-one-get-one-free coupons

screw those get-half-off-the-second-of-equal-or-lesser-value ones

Seriously though, no way. Even though i've been with my girl for a long time, dates are one of the only times i get to all out for her. So a coupon would definately be out of the question.

That's sort of stupid, what if the place you were going had a coupon with substantial savings?

I would never use a coupon on a first date *unless* the place would be so over the top that the coupon would be needed to *excuse* it.

On later dates (once we are dating), I am not going to turn down a hot deal. Fact is though, coupon or not I usually spend the same amount of cash on a night out. Coupons may stretch my bucks more.

Waiter: May I take your order?

You: Yes, I'll have the roast duck, with the mango salsa...and she'll have an entree of equal or lesser value. Here's my 2 -for - 1 coupon.

Her: (OMGWTF)

I don't think that would fly :p

Seriously, I wouldn't mind. Unless you say to the person, "Hey! Let's go to McDonalds because I have a buy one Big Mac, get one Big Mac free coupon!", then I'm sure the person will understand. If you decide to go somewhere and find out that a coupon is available, then it's ok. But if you choose a place because of the coupon, then you might be sending the wrong signals. Of course I would point this out during the course of the date because she should know that I am a thrifty person. I don't actively seek great deals and live off of them, but I do take advantage of saving money when possible. If a woman doesn't like that, then I don't think it would work out in the end anyway.

hahahaha noobs... want to find out if your "date" is a money hungry bitch? Unless you are a baller and want to flaunt it, you can find out alot about a person by doing things like this.

Now if you intent is to hump & dump, you don't wanna do this. But if you are looking for a spouse, then you should find out if they have a problem with your cheapness, because they'll find out eventually.

edit: I realized I never take a girl out to dinner on a first date anymore, unless she's paying. The cheapest avenue these days, is to meet for coffee. If you are a complete cheapskate and don't want to pay, show up a few minutes early and buy yours. Then she'll be forced to pay for her own.

That way if the date sucks, you're not out for dinner & drinks, which can be expensive. By going the coffee route, worst case is you'll be out $6-8 if you buy yours and hers.

this just in, ATOT a ton of virgins.

This is a first date dude. First date. There is a certain protocol to follow. Once that is done, you can move on to being cheap. That's not to say you ever shower a woman with money, just that you show her a good time and don't be a cheap arse while you are at it. If she's cool, she'll pick up on that and offer to help/take care of the activities after you've paid.

I think I'm truly starting to understand why ATOT has such problems with women.

we're talking first date here. later one the coupon is a nice idea. first date? no-frickin-way.

yes, but id do it discretely. For my first few dates, I gave my credit card and coupon to the waiter before my gf even got there. When the bill came, I signed, and we left promptly. I find that going out to an expensive dinner is more of a dining experience than a just flat out meal. With the money part done very discretely and quickly, the whole process is just very smooth.

Not only would I use it, but I would have my date convinced that it was the coolest thing she had ever witnessed in her entire life by the time I produced it.

Ok truthfully that's stretching it. What I would really do is ask her if she liked the place, then I would say, "Well you are going to think this is cheap, but... ah never mind." :) Then when she pesters (which she will), tell her about the coupon and see what happens.

But basically if she had a problem with that, then why the H would you want to be with her anyway. pshhhhhhhhhttttttttttt
