Would you use 1600x1200 on a 21" monitor?

I am considering getting the iiYama VisionMaster 510/511/512 because it can do 1600x1200@100Hz. I was just wondering if Win XP would look good at such high resolution? I know i can enlarge the text, but i just wanted to check and see if there is something i'm unaware of, so that i don't end up buying this monitor and using 1280x960 on it.

You could always use 640x480 on it :) Jumbotronic...

Actually, I probably would, given that I already use 1280x1024 on a 19".. (@85Hz)

I run 19 and 21 inch monitors at 1600x1200, wouldn't have it any other way. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by looking good at a resolution, but if the text is too small you can always bump that up like you've noted. No other quirks or issues that I'm aware of. Looks fantastic to me, espeically if you have good quality wallpaper that you don't have to stretch to get 1600x1200 out of.

Damn straight I would! Currently I run my 21" monitor at 1280x1024, cause it can't do 1600x1200 @ 85hz. And 1280x1024 is way too small! I'm currently planning to replace my monitor with a brand new 19" monitor just so I could get 1600x1200 at decent refresh-rate!

Nah, I've been running 1600X1200 ever since I got my 19" and Win2K. Looks just fine to me. And especially with XP, as if you increase the font size, it doesn't get all pixelated and crappy looking.

Yikes! I always dread going into safe mode because of how awful it is to see and try to use 640x480 on a big monitor. :p

<< Bull, like i said, i just want to make sure that i'm not missing anything :) >>

"Would you use 1600x1200 on a 21" monitor?"

No, I'd run it even higher (if the monitor can take it)

I run my 19" at 1600x1200, 17" at 1280x1024, and 14" at 1024x768. 32 bit color depth, and the max refresh rate. They can't take anything higher. (and yes, all at the same time)

Hell yeah, as a matter of fact, I run it on my 19" also. And when I had a MAG 17" before that, I used to run it @ 1600x1200x69Hz too. The real question is, do you run your games @ that rez? If your card can pump the pixels fast enough. :D

On an LCD, heck yes- even all the way down to a 15" LCD. On a CRT, can't say I'd be as keen on it just because I can't stand the blurriness any more.

<< IN A HEARTBEAT!

I'm running 1280x1024 on a 17" monitor right now.
>>

Same for me right now (work monitor)... I've got a 21" Dell Trinitron at home that I ran at 1280x1024 for a while, but then I switched to 1600x1200@85Hz and I'm never going back! 21-inchers are MADE for 1600x1200!
