Would you trade it?

If someone offered you a 3700+ A64 that can hit 2.9GHz and $250 for your 4200 X2 (2.4GHz max tuning) would you make the deal happen?

I'm not in the US but it's irrelevant now because for once the prices aren't that different and for twice the real reason I'm asking that is nothing else but the imminenet price cut on AMD models. Omg, you could buy an X2 in a few weeks for like $175 (menaning about $210 here based on previous experiences). But how soon would these pricecuts actually affect the pricetags on the CPUs currently in stock at retailers?

why not? get the money keep the 3700+ then wait to get the 4600+. personally 3700+ is good enough for games.

dude, do it. Honestly that 3700+ will do you fine in the interim. You should see the price cuts effective July 24th, on that day. Its not like its a new chip that has to be distributed. Its just a slash, so people may even drop them sooner to steal the market ahead of time.

Not to mention after the fact you could sell the 3700+ once you replace it with a new X2 for another 100 bucks is a plus. So you could get 250 bucks + 100 Bucks - 210 bucks = 140 profit.

Win Win Win.

Whose the idiot willing to make that deal?

In a week that x2 4200+ is only going to be worth $175 according to the amd price cuts. The 3700+ will be valued at less than $100. If you can $250 and the processor in this trade, it would be foolish not to go for it. You can basically make this trade, use the 3700+ for a few weeks, then use the $250 to buy yourself a x2 5000+.

The only reason not to do this is if the hassle of switching processors (ie. the time you won't have use of this computer) is a major problem.
