My doctor mentioned some studies that have shown that it's not actually salt/sodium intake that's bad, it's usually because it's commonly coupled with a high fat diet. Sodium alone is turning out to not be as big of a deal as once thought, just try to put that salt on some asparagus instead of french fries and you should be fine.
