would you take a less enjoyable position over $7k?

basically I get screwed what I'm doing.. I make 30k doing something I enjoy, but should be paid >$40 for..

I've been offered another position in a company at $37k.. something not as enjoyable, but room for growth.. even 37k isn't high enough for the position, really.. I need to figure out a good way to turn down the offer with the understanding I want the position..

grr

if you like your job, it's not work. 🙂

if you hate your job, you will be incredibly unhappy with ure life.

you decide 🙂

Well, five years ago I took a position that only paid $8.50 an hour when I could have gotten a job making $40k. But there was growth opportunity and more enjoyment... and now I make as much or more than if I had taken the other job, and still have enjoyment.

work the "counter-offer" thingy with your employer and try to get 40k where you are.

Find work that seems like play to you or you will suck at your job in the long run.

Not a chance. Work is a lot easier to put up with if it's something you enjoy.

Can you get a similar job to your current one at another company for higher pay?

for the money you are talking about, yes

for myself , that wouldn't be enough $ to jump the fish

Depends how much less enjoyable.

mainly its just less direct IT stuff... mainly making instructional training videos and keeping tend of a small 'training only' network that teaches people how to use our product. right now I work in the IT dept fixing mainly desktops and the like...

I know a little premiere but not much. if i take it, i would REALLY have to brush up on video editing

Sorta agree here. It's sorta relative.

7K a year doesn't sound like much but if you're making 30K..that's a pretty big jump...
