Would you take a cheap happiness pill that did not have side effects?

Read Brave New World and you'll see that 'Happiness Pills' would be VERY bad for society.

Basically, people would find their temporary Happiness addictive compared to real-life emotions and seek more and more of them. Instead of spending money on a family trip (where things could go wrong), the mother and father would pop a pill and sit around under the un-natural illusion that things couldn't be better.

Its a great book. I highly recommend it.

I do not equate happiness with being docile or bovine.

I took happy pills back in high school.........and happy drinks.......and happy smokes......

I had to stop when I got in college. 😀

No...cuz it would make me stop working for what *should* make me happy

But if I was about to die or something, I guess I would...

Well if Ecstasy was legal, had no side effect and didn't cost $30 a pill, I'd take it.

I can't afford $30 a pill on daily basis. Those drug addicts that claims to be poor probably have so much money from drug deals, but spends most of it on drugs so their living budget is very tight

<< "You could not know happiness without having other emotions." >>

i suppose that means that you wouldn't know you're happy unless you have something to compare it to

how would you know if you're happy if you've never been sad, mad, etc etc etc

and xtc has negative side effects, and if you're paying 30 bucks per pill you're gettin ripped off

bad

<sarcasm>Yeah, just give every suffering man, woman, and child a happy pill and all the world's problems would be solved</sarcasm>

Happiness pill = Running away from your problems in life

Though are we talking about a happy pill or a 'far-out' mind-warping pill?

<< can't afford $30 a pill on daily basis >>

actually in the long term, you would save money...
20 bucks for the pill, plus you dont eat for the day plus the next day cause you lose your appetite.... thats 20 bucks worth of food right there..... dam.. the pill pays for itself in one sitting... what a deal.. and as an added benifit, you get happiness too.

what a deal!

im only semi joking of course...

A happy pill.
How many people in the US are suffering from hunger, ill health, etc?
Are you suffering right now?

if everybody was happy, i don't see how there would be any problems...

if there were truly no negative side effects that is. and yes, i would take it. but that's never going to happen, there will always be negative side effects to anything, however small or removed.

Sounds like bad side effects to me.

Is that what it goes for nowadays? Back in my day it was $10. But that was like 12 - 14 years ago..
