Would you support mandatory drivers license (re) testing at ~50

At 51 I would say that I'm a better driver than most in the early to mid 20's ( a hell of a lot more experience and common sense) and just as good as anybody in their 30's and 40's. I think around 70 peoples relexes and mental capabilities should be tested as that's when those capabilities can start to decline enough where it could be detrimental to ones ability to drive.

What a surprise - a bunch of 20 somethings support retesting at 50. I wonder if they support 1 year license suspension for getting 2 speeding tickets.

So double the cost of the license. In NJ it's only $18 to renew your license. They could charge you $50 and it would still be reasonable. My last few times to the DMV have actually been very pleasant, and I went on the one day of the week that they have evening hours. New Jersey must be doing something right. (For one, we only have inspections after 4 years for a new car, and every 2 years after that - there's no reason to expect a brand new car to fail an inspection in the first few years)

Not 50, no. I would say 60 or 65. In addition, there should be a follow up test two years after the real thing.

65. You get social security, you have to be tested for driving every 5 years. Every two when you pass 80.

Something more reasonable would be:
License at 16
Retest at 20, 30, 40, 50, 60
Every 5 years after that

If under 20 after 2nd minor traffic incident, Driving school and retest
Otherwise, if 3 minor traffic incidents within 5 years, Driving school and retest

Of course that is just something I pulled right outta my rear, just like everybody else who posted here. Now if anyone here works in the industry and has facts regarding testing/accidents then we will be going somewhere.
