Would you support a modern version of the Roman Circus?

Lets face it, there are criminals who are irredeemable.

They commit the most heinious of crimes and their victims get nothing.

So why not have something like a modern equivalent of a roman circus, where the worst of criminals (the ones who have been sentenced to death) get to fight a ruthless fight of survival. We spectators would get to watch the carnage through the cameras, the sponsors would fork up billions for television rights and their victims would end up benefiting from the money so raised.

Sounds like a win-win situation for everyone except the criminal scum.

I know it sounds cruel, barbaric and inhuman. But what the hell, we already had televised accounts of the first Iraq war, this is not all that different.

Besides I'am drunk 😀

Would you support televised crucifixions and Nazi style one way concentration camps for the "criminal sum". What the hell it has been done before!

Or maybe this sort of thing is not done in a civilized society.

Unreal Tournament FTW!

Well...the Romans were considered quite civilized back in the day.
Civilization is relative...your current feelings of moral outrage at the idea line up quite nicely with the decade in which you are living.
Pity the man who lives in one century but reasons in another 🙂

I don't thnk so. UFC ratings are sh1t. even that's too violent for our modern society. Hockey had to scale back fighting before they allowed it on network TV. Dog fighting is illegal and used to be a gentelmans sport, suit and tie affair before the 40's...

Lions ripping apart other humans? Not likly to even pay for the production costs.

Its not worthwhile because it is prohibited. If it can be shown on adult television, It should see the ratings zoom up the charts.

I just don't think people today can stomach that. Same reason we fight wars half-assed. I mean like the post above me said "barbaric" and most people hold this view. Dunno why though.

well since christianity is slowly disappearing, maybe in a 100 years the west will return to its pagan roots.

I would support that idea on with one minor change.

The combatants will beautiful naked women wrestling each other. The loser is the one who orgasms first.

If people wanted to see this stuff, it would be all over the internet instead of the few sites you find it now.

Ne crimina interficiamus, nedum ludis.

The Roman concept of the games is not exactly something I am fond of.
