I've never paid for useful information on the internet.
Why would I pay for useless information and random chit-chat?

ATOT is slower than it used to be. If you wanted to create a separate forum for paid users, it would be even slower than it is now. I remember back when posting was still quite active at 2am. Now it's virtually dead. So no...i wouldn't pay to post in a forum where the activity is significantly less than it is now.

i paid back when subscriber got you on a faster server

i would pay for a sub-forum with sillier trolls, not one that kept out the funny trolls, that would be too boring

this place (the non-technical forums) is about ENTERTAINMENT , it is a form of reality entertainment, like reality TV on the internets

if you want "serious" social forums, then go over to P&N ;)

Now there is an idea... let us pay to have the ability to ban some of the idiots in the P&N forum :)

I would never post on any public forum that charged a fee - there's plenty of good forums which are free.

Yes, absolutely. I was a broke college student last time there was a subscription service, but after almost 10 years invested in this place and some very strong relationships and contacts that have come from these forums, I absolutely would pay for a subscriber forum.

It'd be interesting if those funds were used to pay the mods that put so much time into managing these forums.

Split subscriber fees between them evenly perhaps.

What about the funds from the Ads to pay the Mods?

Segregation is never good for forums imo. There's already too many subsections. If you get too many, there'll be 3 people in each talking to each other.
Yeah, I think they need to merge a few of the sub forums here. Splitting them made sense at first, but I think they have decreased the traffic overall.

No, there would not be enough people, and the forum would be too empty. The looney people are part of the entertainment.

Anyone who thinks paying money raises the bar has clearly never played World of Warcraft ($180 per year to play)

P&N is for serious?
woah

P&N is like the best form of reality-internet entertainment. You get to see all the assholes think highly of themselves. Can't get any more entertaining than that.
Except for the depressing thought that follows, in knowing that these people aren't paid actors. Then I guess it becomes a somber reality drama.

^_^

Wut? I don't Think highly of myself. I KNOW!!!

srsly

I'll just say having money to spend doesn't make you mature (as opposed to a juvenile dunderhead) and as you mentioned many people would not pay. From what I understand forum activity isn't near what it used to be, so this new forum would only be that much more quiet.

Agree with fobot about entertainment.

+1 for Poll.

I think forum activity is fine, its just split across many forums.

Imagine pouring P&N into OT. That alone would more than double activity. Now add gaming forums, Gadgets and Gear, the Garage, Health and Fitness etc.... All of these forums used to be OT.

Nope. Can't afford to. All these places that want monthly fees now just drain your wallet dry.

I would support Member's Only *if* I could get good discounts on items that normally are not discounted like certain CPUs & system RAM ... in other words some vendor involvement???? Otherwise ... meh:thumbsdown:
