Would you stop driving if gases price were...*Poll*

Some don't have a choice. I commute 13 miles daily... I can't not drive. Just gonna have to pay me more.

I hardly drive outside of the 40 miles/week I drive to work. If gas hit $40/gallon, then it might be worth my time to ride my bike to work.

If it hits $10/gallon I'm selling naming rights to my children to a helicopter manufacturer and an aviation fuel company. That will fix everything.

Just hope they don't see all your YAGTs and realize you won't be having kids anytime soon.

Didn't you see the previous thread about the helicopter? It'll fix that situation, too.

Trip to GF apartment on weekend: ~5 miles. Civic in town mileage: ~30 mpg. Gas used one way: 1/6th gallon.

Taxi cost for same trip: $20 (small city, they are expensive).

Thus, gas must be $120/gallon to make a taxi worthwhile. Of course, if that happened taxi prices would soar as well. So, I doubt it'll ever be worth my money to not drive on weekends.

During the week: Bus fare: $1. Gas would have to be $6/gallon to make the bus cost as much as driving. But the difference is that it would take 2 more hours on the bus (each way). If I make $30/hour, gas would need to be $66/gallon for the bus to be worth it.

Since $66 and $120 fit into the $11+ category, I voted $11+.

My wife works in NYC and I drive her to the train station everyday.

In order to get to the train station, we must drive there. Otherwise, in order to get to the nearest bus stop that would take her to the train station, she'd have to walk 15 minutes. We'd rather drive 5 minutes down the road to the train station ourselves.

Gas money spent > Bus fare and time spent

The only other time we drive around is on weekends. Can't be hermits 7 days a week.

I live an hour away from groceries. Driving is not a luxury.

Wow, that sucks. Where do you live?

Middle of nowhere, Kansas. Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining, there are a lot of good things about living out here. ATM, gas isn't one of them. 🙁
