For a $400k/year job that comes with a ~20% chance of dying while doing it?

Why would anyone want this job? Crazy...

Campaign officials revealed during the last week that they have set a target of raising $60 million for the quarter from at least 450,000 donors.

But even $60 million would not seem to be a very ambitious goal for Obama. He raised the same amount during the second quarter of 2007, just after he announced his 2008 campaign.

The campaign is hoping to raise up to $1 billion total for the 2012 election.

The email reiterates a call for donors to give at least $5 in order to be automatically entered into a raffle for dinner with Obama and Vice President Biden.

so if obama gets five dolla from 200mil people, then he will reach his $1B goal.

let me guess, how many people are on food stamps? 1 in 6? so 55mil people

yeah hes got it when you count all the entitlement junkies and his fan voters too.

If I had one billion dollars, it would be silly to spend it for a job that only paid $400k. However, as he's raising money from donors, he's required to spend the money on his campaign; he can't just save it for himself, so it's not like he's giving up a billion dollars for the job. Also, though the job only pays $400k, it also comes with free food, lodging, transportation, travel, security, and a seemingly limitless expense account (and if politicians have taught us nothing else, it's that virtually anything can be written off as a business expense). Also, you get to be one of the most powerful people on the planet.

I wouldn't do it because the stress factor is just a wee bit high, but you have to phrase the question correctly.

what % have been shot? or had assassanition attempts on them

im too lazy to look this up

Not really an answer to your question...
but 8 presidents have died in office, 4 of which were assassinated. Assuming that the stress of "the job" aggrivated the remaining four Presidents illness, leading to natural causes, that would put a death toll of %18.18. That's pretty close to ~20%!

EDIT: 14 assassination attempts with 4 assassinations comes out to a 28% chance of successful attempts with a 31% chance someone is going to try and kill you. This doesn't include President Zachary Taylor or President Warren G. Harding who are suspected to have been assassinated.

Amazes me the President of the US get's paid $400k, but they all tend to make a lot more than that. You'd think with a demanding job like being the president of one of the most powerful countries in the world, you wouldn't have time for second jobs. They sure don't work that kind of money magic with the budget either.

The president has got a lot to learn from his underlings, where they only manage cities, towns or precincts and are pulling in more than he does.... Wait, what?

I sure wish we had a forum that dealt specifically with politics and maybe some news related to it. Oh if only . . ..

It's not just $400K Yr.
It is actually $400K + triple (?) that in Perks, add in a pension and perks for life.
Then, pander to big business & have a lifetime income on top of that! (IE: Reagan & Big Agriculture)
(I know, getting kind of P&Nny here)

9.09% of US Presidents have been assassinated.

You don't have to be assassinated to die in office. 8 of our 44 presidents died in office. ~20%.

And for whoever tried to steer this to P&N... I'm just openly marveling at the fact that it costs one BEEEELION dollars to get elected president now. When Dubbya won his first term ALL of the candidates, including the primary losers from all parties, combined, didn't spend that much.

Don't worry, Obama's gonna take what he doesn't spend and give it back to the rest of us Americuns.

maybe he'll put it away in a "lockbox" and use it to restock our SS?

I wonder what the average number of thrusts a guy makes before ejaculation, I'm not so sure all 2000 chicks would each get their share of penis even with just one pump per poon.

take in to account the amount of time it takes to go from one chick to another. This drastically goes up if you are changing condoms with each girl. I'm not sure I could sustain an erection long enough to give 2000 chicks one pump, even if all of them were bareback.

I'm thinking most dudes would loose wood before the 2000 mark was reached, or they would have to call a physician :D

I have a conveyor belt system in mind that cycles out the chicks between thrusts... although maybe we'll have to settle for less chicks if we have to invest in construction of the conveyor system...

People die every day in millions of different jobs, or with no job at all. Hard to say definitively that being President caused death, other than assassination.
