Would you RMA an LCD monitor for just one dead/stuck pixel?

Just got my Dell 2001FP and I see one stuck pixel in the lower center of the screen; is it worth exchanging it for another? Or to put it another way--how many of you would do so for just one stuck/dead pixel?

I have a dead pixel on mine, but I rarely see it. I guess the question is if it bothers you then send it back, but if you rarely even notice it then it may not be worth it.

Yes. Dead or stuck pixels are annoying as hell. I'd never buy from a place that didn't have an unconditional return policy.

Well, as long as I don't run an all-black or all-white background, it's not terribly noticeable. However, it is somewhat annoying if only because it's towards the center of the screen, rather than way in a corner. I guess what I'm really looking to find out is whether or not someone would be that picky enough to pay shipping to RMA an LCD for just one stuck/deal pixel (Dell warranty states that you have to prepay shipping charges for a return)...

At the price those things are going for, hell ya I'd RMA it. Spending that much $$$ demands perfection.

This is the reason i still refuse to invest in LCDs. Pixel Deaths + Low Refresh rates + Limited resolutions = NT. Especially for that kind of money.

Nope, not usually for 1, especially for something at 1280X1024 or above, where the pixels are *tiny*.

Also, it really depends on location/color.

I have a single dead pixel in the bottom left corner of my 19" LCD that is stuck on black; it's about 1" in from the bottom left corner.

I cannot see it 99.9% of the time; only time I can is when the entire screen is on white.

However, I have a 17" LCD at work with a stuck pixel on red in the middle of the screen that no amount of massaging has gotten out, and I can see how that could get annoying.

Low refresh rates are a nonissue for LCD's.

The limited resolutions is a bitch though. That's why I go dual LCD/CRT.

LCD's are *so* much better for text, but CRT's are still king for FPS games, IMO.

Indeed. I still don't understand how people I know play FPS on LCDs... there's so much blur it's like watching the pixel fillrate test in 3DM03. Hurts my eyes.

Yes, I'd RMA it for a dead or stuck pixel. In fact, I had to return my SECOND HP Pavilion laptop just yesterday because the replacement one they send me also had a dead pixel. I'm giving them a third try in hopes that they finally get the clue to test the monitor before it gets sent out to make sure there's no dead pixel.

Why not go with a different notebook? Cause the zt3000 is thin, a little lighter, and has a 15.4" wuxga screen, and for the price i'm paying, ~$1500, it better be flawless, especially out of the box!

I won't laugh...please explain...

Technically, I don't have a dead pixel, though; it's a stuck pixel...'cuz it's friggin' light-bluish--especially noticeable against a black background. Uggh...

yes, without hesitation. I returned an ibook because of one stuck pixel. At these prices I'm not going to pay for a defective product, just like I wouldn't buy a new car with a ding.

If I notice it often, then yes but if I never see the thing then who cares.

Pixels are all roughly the same physical size... in all displays.

Windows actually COUNTS on this being the case, as it's font scaling is HORRIBLE.
