Would you recommend upgrading my DVD burner

I purchased a Plextor Plextor PX-504A DVD Burner around two years ago with the intended purpose of converting old VHS movies to DVD...unfortunately, the software options at the time, and my other system components, were not powerful enough to perform the conversions.

I am about to upgrade my PC, and intend to purchase a PLEXTOR PX-TV402U-NA ConvertX PVR Device, as opposed to going through a PCI based option.

My concern is that my DVD Burner will now be the bottleneck in the system...I believe Plextor is up to 7-series in their DVD burner nomenclature.

Would you recommend upgrading my DVD Burner, or is the PX-504A sufficient for my needs.

In that its Plextor , I would use what you have . If you should have any trouble , newer burners are for sale for almost the tax paid on a Plextor . I have the 720a and like it alot , also have a nec 3550a and it works well also . Try your new setup 1st .

I suspected that would be the best approach...get my new rig setup, and see if the burn times are acceptable...not worth upgrading the DVD burner to save a few milliseconds.
