I recently bought a 27" trinitron for my university apartment but now I'm looking for some audio to go with it. I was browsing craigslist and found this deal and was wondering if I should take it. He said that the system does not come with a sub and that the speakers that come with came with the receiver. I can't seem to find what type of speakers they are or any good reviews on the receiver itself.

Can any of you comment on the quality of the receiver/speakers and whether they are worth the price he is asking?

Thanks =)

Looks like the speakers themselves are part of the HKTS 5 set.

I imagine for $75 you can't do too bad with that receiver and speakers. Decent starter set that'll be better than any HTIB you could buy new for that price. You should strongly consider adding a subwoofer when you can though.

I suppose its tough to go wrong for $75. However, I would look into a refurb Onkyo before that as the speakers are worthless IMO.

It's probably not a bad start. I would think that the receiver alone should be worth about $75.

If it were me, and I bought this, I'd immediately look to add a GOOD sub. Then I'd upgrade the front three speakers together, keeping these as rears in a 5.1 or 7.1 setup. Then eventually, I'd look to upgrade the rest.

Not a bad start for 75 bucks.
