Sorry man, I think everyone here is in agreement that Heat spreaders is just 'eye candy.' To have to spend an extra $10-15 per stick, for heat spreaders that provide no performance benefit; is not a justification for me. Now I just spent $240 on Kingston HyperX PC3500 512MB X2, with aluminum blue heat spreaders. If I had the option of saving $10 or so per stick to NOT get the Heat spreaders I definitely would of taken the $$ savings.

Now maybe with today?s DDR Ram Heat spreaders are unnecessary, but perhaps when the new DDRII comes out next year (or is it this year?) at speeds of DDR500 & DDR533 then (maybe?) it would be needed for thermal dissipation.

But I think its just one of those American Psyche things, well if It looks pretty then it must be doing some good right. Sorry man if I crapped all over your thread, but I just wanted to give ya my $0.02. Now maybe you want to give it back..........:D

Its seems more of a fashion statement than anything. (Unless you have a case with 0% airflow).
