Would you re-take a 1 year course that you failed when you no longer have an interest in that field?

I just took the Canadian Securities Course out of personal interest. I passed the first exam, but by the end of the year I couldn't be bothered to read the textbook for the second exam. I failed (I got 57% and a pass is 60%. I didn't even bring a calculator).

Anyway, over this past year I realized I have absolutely zero interest in going into the financial industry as a career. I did kind of like that I would have been able to put the course on my resume though.

It'll cost me another $500 to extend the program, a couple of months to study and and re-write the exam.

What would you do? I can't decide if it's worth it to me...

Why did you sign up for something you didn't care for in the first place?

The psychological factor of failing the class is already getting to me. I don't like to fail.

I also figure it's something I can add to my resume. It will never directly relate to anything I will do in the future (career wise), but all education is noteworthy (IMO).

I wanted to learn about the stock market.

The second half just seems to cover a lot of "know your client" stuff and I just got bored. The first half was quite interesting.

Wasting $500 on a class you don't need nor are interested in tells me you're a poor decision maker and someone who probably shouldn't be hired.

I took the class out of personal interest. It's certainly beneficial to know how the stock market works and I learned that in the first half.

The only thing I didn't have an interest is getting a career in the financial industry, which is what most of the 2nd half of the course covers.
