i'm looking for something compact so I can carry it around in my pocket without a problem, price isn't the major issue. The problem I see with the SD100 is that it uses sd memory instead of the compact flash that the other ones do.

the sd100 is a s230 the used SD mem. its actually a lil smaller. the smallest of the bunch actually

personally id take an s400 out of those

but if i were getting one id get a Pentax Optio S4 or optio 555

the S4 is the size of an altoids can

wtf
😕

I went with the SD 100 due to it's size. Fits in a pocket nice and easily. Not too mention it takes excellent pics and the LiIon battery has a long life.

u wont notice much dif between the s230 and the s400 in terms of size or picture print-outs up to 8x10

u will notice a dif between the 2x and 3x optical zoom though

I have the s230 and it is a great camera. I believe the sd100 is slightly smaller due to the fact the SD card is smaller.

To all you S200/230/400/100 owners, are there any add-on lens accessories for this cam? I am new to digital photography, so I dont know if one would need a telephoto lens for such a small camera...

you'll also notice the size difference.. especially in your pocket. At least, I sure do (then again, ppl call me nuts for noticing the slight size differences in MD units.. and the whole ipod vs others thing).

as far as 2x vs 3x, i have the s400. I've found I rarely ever use telephoto... mainly because i shoot indoors mostly, so there isn't enough light for the lens...

either one you chose.. i'm sure you'll be happy 🙂 I can't afford to sell my s400 and grab an sd100...

see earlier thread about Canon releasing 20 new digicams in 2004. Many more will use SD memory, including a 5 megapixel SD-series digital elph with rumored 4x zoom.
