Would you rather be quadriplegic or dead?

Dead. Sitting in a chair unable to do anything the rest of my life sure sounds like a lot of fun. Although, I'd wait a few years and try rehab/experimental treatments before I offed myself.

A quad. I can't believe that people are saying dead - that's...uh...disturbing.

Why? I'm a firm believer in not overstaying my welcome here on this world. When my time comes to go, I want to go.

Being a quadriplegic would suck, to put it mildly. I'd much rather be dead than forced to live that way.

I AM a quadriplegic. Apparently you all think quadriplegia consists of no movement or feeling in any extremeties....wrong. It just means their effected. You would be called a quad if the only problem with your arms was reduced fingertip sensitivity.

I can drive a car, fly a small airplane, write, etc etc etc etc.

I sure as HELL am glad I'm not dead.

Being a quad is bad enough... But the fact that people would have to change my diapers, feed me, etc, would be even worse.

EDIT: Though, reading Crab's post, I'd have to qualify that with, "if I lost all movement below my neck, then dead..."

There are a lot of things I want to do, places I want to see, and people I want to meet in this world still. I can still do almost all of that while being a quad. A physical handicap I could deal with - if we were talking mental handicap I would probably choose death.

That's an interesting distinction that I hadn't heard of before. In that case, yes I would choose quadriplegia. If it involved loss of all movement below the neck, then I would choose death.
