To some extent it is hard to separate the two because if you're truly smart (not just book-smart) you're making better choices that tend to make you more physically attractive.

On the other hand if handsome can apply to women then it's a different story, that you can be as dumb as a box of rocks but still have a much easier life because of looks.

Hard to decide, I'm kinda average on both sides of the scale. I think if I had to pick just one I'd take smart as that is probably more important for survival. And I can just make myself look handsome with my smartness by creating some kind of special formula or something.
