Would you quit your job if they blocked Anandtech.com?

Not sure if this has been asked before.

I've never had a job where the internet was blocked, but then again, I'm in IT.

So - if you came into work today and Anandtech was blocked, would you quit?

What kind of stupid fucking idiot would quit a paying job if they weren't allowed to surf their favorite websites? For fuck sakes, you're there to WORK, not to surf...

The entitlement attitudes of today's youth just astounds me.

I'd just twiddle my thumbs a lot more and actually look like I'm not working. For all they know right now I'm filling out a trouble ticket.

I wouldn't quit but I would be a lot less happy and unmotivated which typically means the quality of my work would decline.

Quitting is extreme. Don't be foolish. I would, however, die of boredom immediately.

...or suddenly find a stack of new "special projects" on my plate!

Nope. In fact I'd probably get a promotion since I'd be much more productive.

Yeah, I guess so. I was raised that if you're on the payroll, you actually work...if you run out of work, you find something else productive to do. I forgot, today's workers don't believe in actually EARNING their paychecks...:p

QFT

The first 15+ months at my current company I had access to a very limited selection of sites. Now in this department I have 75% of the internet open. I would never QUIT a job because of it, but I would definitely find myself bored and figure out another site to nef all day :).

As of now it might be Myspace since it has YET to be blocked, but most people spend a solid hour+ on it daily... jk about neffing Myspace.

I would say a happy worker is a productive worker, especially with the competition of talent these days. Back then it was hanging out at the water cooler, today it's neffing on forums.
