I'm talking about Coursera classes that are directly related to your degree. I wouldn't put a Coursera class on economics if I was a computer programmer.

I just finished a class on Applying Principals of Behavior in the K-12 Classroom. I'm a special education teacher so this class is related to my degree. I was thinking about adding it at the end of my resume under the title Professional Development.

So it might look like this:

Professional Development
Coursera Online: Applying Principals of Behavior in the K-12 Classroom

My goal is to show future employers that I'm continuous learner.

I do get a certificate when the class is finished.

I should get it next week.

Yes.

But, this is coming from someone who has a picture of him eating (in his underwear) on his resume.

I can't think of a reason not to put it on there, but I would give it some thought before I paraded it around like it was a super-awesome thing.

Look at the resumes / bios of the teachers in the school where you're applying. School websites are great for doing opposition research.

If the staff all post their bios touting their diploma mill non-degrees (MAEd from ITT Tech, that kind of thing) then fly your Coursera flag with pride. They'll probably buy it. However, if they mostly went to those elitist "accredited" schools, you might not want to talk it up too much.

My goal for putting this type of information on my resume is to show that I value learning. That's about the extent of it. My Coursera info would go at the end of my resume.

This is how I'm putting it on my resume.

Ongoing Coursework
Coursera Online Learning (2014)
Applying Principles of Behavior in the K-12 Classroom
Major emphasis was on conducting a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) in the classroom.

What do you guys think?

Should I put on my resume that I get a standard certification of completion? If so, where would you put it?

I don't want to put too much info on my resume as I run the risk of making it too crowded.
