Would you prefer to have High cashflow, but low fixed asset value or tight cashflow, but high asset value?

My family just went through the phase of having a tight squeeze on our cashflow, but with the tradeoff of buying a second more expensive home. It all worked well in the end and we are now financially secure and with money to blow.

So would you rather have a tight squeeze on your cashflow for a period of say ~5 years and remain assetless or have high asset value, but tight cashflow.

Depends on the asset I wanted.

I'd rather have high cashflow. In case of an emergency I would have the money to pay for it without having to sell my assets.

But like Bsobel posted, it would kinda depend on what assets you're talking about, $500,000 in assets or $30 billion in assets?

Rates are forecasted to go up, your asset price falls so I would rather have CF.

But depends on class of asset.
