Would you prefer four 10 hour work days or five 8 hour work days?

I have done both in my life. As a machinist I worked 4 ten hour days for 2 years and it was no problem. But now I do construction work and 8 hours is all I can handle. I think it all depends on the type of work one is doing.

I'd go for the 4 10's.

I usually end up working 5 10's or 12's as it is. lol

I have this weekend off and I AM REALLY EXCITED ABOUT IT!!

<- Travels for work 😉

I work 4 10s already, overnight shift. I like it, and so did everybody else in the office; the combined uproar of the 40 of us was enough to make our bosses think twice about switching us to 5 8s.

Whitecloak: where's your sig quote from? It almost sounds like a Bentusi quote from Homeworld/2 games. Edit: NM, i found it... Blade Runner, awesome flick

Aside from the obvious "I'd prefer not to work" option, I'd do 4x10. My commute is literally 3 mins to work and I generally don't do much on any given day anyways, so my extra 2 hours would probably be just 2 more hours of nothing.

I'd rather do 4x10, personally. Having every friday off would rock.

4x10 often means the business still runs 5 days /week. So people don't always get friday or even monday as the 3rd day off, it's could be any day of the week.

Make sure you get the 3rd day off in line with the other 2 so it's always 4 on, 3 off and not 2 on, 1 off, 2 on, 2 off or something like that. Always having a 3-day weekend is great. Had that at my last job for a while.

man i'd kill for those hours...
consulting owns me...60-80 hour weeks with no OT pay...

an old coworker of mine at accenture once worked 217 hours in a 2 week pay period!!!

yeah doesn't it suck

and i would take the 10 hours 4 days a week, my sister worked a night shift like that and loved it

My company offers a schedule where you can work 9 hour days Mon-Thur, and 8 hour day the first friday, and the 2nd friday off. Was pretty nice, as I was ussually there 9 hours a day anyway.

With my current schedule with the kids (school, daycare, commute, etc.) I can barely get in an 8 hour day 🙁
