I posted an item for sale and put a contact email address in my post that was different than the one on file here when I registered. I didn't realize that this was a rules violation until the Mod stated so in my for sale post.

To correct the situation, I went into my profile and changed my email address to match the one I had posted in my for sale post (and since edited out). When I went to change my email address in my profile, a pop-up stated that since I changed my email address, a new password would be emailed to me at the new email address.

My old email address (which is a valid one) was deactivated by a Mod, and no password has been sent to me. I PMed a Mod asking for the password and/or my email address to be reactivated. No word. Nada. Nothing.

The problem I have is that the Mod was quick to deactivate my valid email address, did not (and still has not) 1. emailed me a new password, and 2. Has not shown basic courtesy by replying to my PM asking for assistance with this honest error on my part.

I would appreciate if I could receive the new password half as fast as my email address was deactivated by a very minor offense. Can I get some help on this? Thanks.
 
When you went to change your email, that is what deactivated your old one, not by the mod for your 'offense'. How are you logged in and posting without a current password?

I can still log in with my old password. Apparently that hasn't been deactivated although my email address in my profile has been rendered unusable. Click on my profile and you can see how my original email address was modified. If the word "REMOVE" were not there, that would be my original email address I?ve had here for a few years.

I did change my email address in my profile to my AOL account today, and the pop-up stated that a new password had to be (and would be) sent to the new email address. I haven't received the new password yet, and the email address in my profile is obviously altered and cannot be used by just clicking on the link.

I did PM a Mod and requested either of my two email addresses be activated in my profile. Still no response, so I posted about the problem here (as I understood was the appropriate place)

Thanks for explaining that a Mod didn't "deactivate" my email address, but my other complaint is that I've not received a response from a Mod to my PM or post here. I feel like I'm in some kind of limbo and I just want to get it resolved.
 
Oh my... your old email is still fine then. You are seeing the REMOVE added into your email, but it doesn't really affect it. If someone wants to email you from your profile, they would just remove the REMOVE and it would be fine.

Since your profile is showing your old email, and you didn't get a new p/w, then I'm going to say you haven't yet changed over, all is as it was.

Sure, a work around could be done to get email to me by removing the word "REMOVE". Besides being impractical, it is completely unnecessary. The email was working as a link before and I am confident it can again. All I need is for someone in administration to remove the word REMOVE they placed in my previously working email link. Got it? It's that simple.

I don't need an AOL email address here, and I don't need to come up with a work-around for something that can be fixed) and should be fixed) by the admin types of the board.

What I do need is to hear BACK from a mod on my PM to them about this - or to hear back from a Mod - based on me describing the problem here, and asking for help to resolve the problem. I still have not heard back from a Mod from my PM to them nor has a Mod PMed me or posted here.

I JUST NEED MY ORIGINAL EMAIL ADDRESS PUT BACK THE WAY IT WAS FOR THE PAST 2 & 1/3 YEARS HERE AND TO LEAVE MY PASSWORD ALONE. THAT'S ALL. Really. Seriously.

Now, who around here can and will unpull the switch that got switched? That?s who I need to hear from.

IT HASN'T BEEN THAT WAY FOR ALMOST A YEAR!

Check other people's email address in their profiles. EVERYONE has "remove" in it. It's an anti-spam measure. Read some of the threads below and look at the thread dates. There are many more threads about this.

Then read the FAQ (found at the top of the pages between "help" and "my forums". It tells all the email addresses that are banned.

To sum it all up:
1. Your address in your profile was NOT changed to the new address because the new address was a banned one.
2. The "remove" in your address belongs there.
3. Everyone has "remove" in their email address as an address-harvesting prevention measure.
4. It's been that way for about a year.
5. It isn't going away.
6. Live with it. Everyone else can and does and those in FS/FT manage to buy and sell just fine.


"Got it? It's that simple."
