Would you be willing to subscribe to Napster if:

1. The price per month is $5.

2. Every song is perfect cd quality.

3. The songs are on dedicated servers 24/7.

I definitely would. $5 a month for unlimited cd quality songs would be a steal.

Yes. It would be much better than paying fricking $16-$20 for a CD with 1-2 good songs

Yes. But they can't sell their current service...look at all the garbage out there on Napster.

<< if it was still peer to peer, and not only songs from some gay list >>

I'm sure the record companies could get pretty much every song created and put them on their servers.

good call there kami. If they're planning to sell they will need to take complete control :(

Owell, it was fun while it lasted

Of course but that'd wouldn't happen.

I'd actually pay for Napster for what it is. Maybe a monthly fee (if it's small) or a one-time fee like Kali is(was?). The problem is when Napster starts charing thousands of people won't pay so I'd be left with a measly selection of songs and mostly popular ones probably that I wouldn't want.

I hope that the "closing" of Napster will increase my upload bandwidth, whether this means that it is closed completely, or less people go on there because it is going to be subscription. With all these people using napster and stuff, ATT capped my upload @15KB a sec, when it used to be 50K! I would be able to live getting mp3's from other sources if I they would uncap me :)

Don't forget the new napster agreement includes copy protection, which will not allow songs downloaded to you, to be played on other machines.

You knew that right?

why not join a private napster network, like musiccity? those are independent from napster, no?

i bet your newer copies of napster are rigged :) They've done it before. Upgrade to 2.beta9? Sure and include new features that we won't tell you about, that will force you to upgrade to the commercial product instead of using napigator on private band networks.

i woudln't, because chances are the rare ones wouldn't be able to be found. this is why i like napster as it is, because i can find just about any song i want to, especially from stuff which i can't find on cd's locally

That would be worth it IF and only IF, all songs were guaranteed COMPLETE. And at a 192 sample rate.

Then again, how would you liscense all the live shows and live dj sets etc.
Napster alternatives are the way to go for mainstream music.

If it had the songs i wanted to get, i would be more than happy to pay for it. Napster's nice because you can find alot of the live stuff like other people covering songs, that you would never find otherwise.

<< Isn't that an oxymoron? >>

What I mean is I would want the music to sound like they are rips from the original cd.
