Would you pay an extra $55AUD for a Opty 165 over a X2 3800+?

Well?

I missed out on the really good Opty prices, but i can get a 165 delivered for $550AUD or a 3800+ for $495...

I think i will be going down this path since i can just drop my AXp and mobo, get a new CPU and a Asrock AGP/PCI-E board and i'm good to go...otherwise i'd jump on the 920 bandwagon 😉

I wouldn't...you may be able to get a little more headroom from an Opty vice a 3800+, but with that comes the added heat from the secondary cache and I just don't think that is worth a possible 200Mhz...

Geez dude you can get an opty 165 from nintek for $499 AUD they are still in stock I just got one the other day and got stepping CCBWE 0551VPMW its sitting pretty at 2.75Ghz superpi 32m stable. Nice link barrel! The only problem I have is if you need to RMA anything...Perth shipments are a bit exy for me. But they certainly have some good prices.
