Would you pay $2800+ for a Google Glass?

I just got my message to buy Google Glass. I'm still contemplating. I'm outside of the US, and I would need to add on flight costs to purchase the device. Damn!

If I buy it, then I figured I'd use it for a few weeks, and then sell it to one of the locals. I'm sure I can get premium for it. Maybe enough to cover the trip cost.

Negative. Not sure I would be confident in my ability to sell it off for what I paid if I didn't like it either.

... but wouldn't it be cool to be the first Glasshole in your area? :)

Yeah, I couldn't swing $2800 anyway. I'd rather spend it on other things. I'm kinda bummed out that you can't sell it. My friend from Austria once visited me in the States. He bought a bunch of clothes and some hot electronic items to take home. He was able to pay for his trip and make some extra cash. Too bad, I can't do that by being the first Glasshole in my area.

I very much doubt I would ever have any interest in an augmented reality product of this kind, but IF I did, it would have to look indistinguishable from normal glasses to the untrained eye, and cost $500 or less to even get a second look (no pun intended!) from me. I think we are years away from the former, but then again I do like fairly bulky frames - I wear these:

I would not. I already wear glasses, so it would be useless to me, and I don't understand the appeal of wearing a smartphone on my face.

If I made $100k I'd buy a pair.

OP, are you even sure they'd work outside the US?

I'd buy it for 1500. But I'll wait til it's good any ready before I spend my money.

Bwahaha T*ts & Glass. And they want to ban explicit material. Don't they know porn sells stuff like this?

God no. I'd probably pay less than the BOM at this point. I don't need alpha hardware. First gen stuff is bad enough. I'm saving my stupid money for Occus Rift.

If they were $200, I'd buy them for sure. If they were $500, I'd be very likely to buy them. Any more and probably not.

$2800 is fine if you're a developer who wants a first-mover advantage in a new market. As a consumer, its pretty stupid to pay that much, unless you're filthy rich. Once these things are polished and hit the market, they'll cost under $500.

Good point. The first person to write a fart app for Google Glass will make half a million dollars.

If they could wirelessly transmit good quality video, I can see it revolutionizing sports broadcasting. That's an angle you just can't get right now, that fans would love to see. Not as bulky as a GoPro, easier for the player to wear. $2800 is not a big expense for a broadcast perspective.

However, I wouldn't get them for myself.
