Would you pay $212 for another 5"?

I am taking a 37" back tomorrow because it developed a stuck pixel near the middle of the screen. I thought about just getting a 42" but its $212 more after taxes.

You get 28% more real estate on a 42in panel than a 37in panel.

Whats the price of the 37, so we can compare the % increase?

Also how did you feel the size of the 37 was? When I got my 42 originally it seemed like an OK size, but not great. When it broke and I returned it and opted for a 47 it was like night and day having that 25% increase in real estate.

I'm with krotchy. When it comes to HDTV, the bigger, the better. What models are we talking about here?

Depends on how far away from the TV you are to an extent. I would most likely take a 10" upgrade in screen size for the 200$ though (I've seen a 47" 1080P go for 1000$ as opposed to my 37" 1080P that I got a while ago at 900$)

ALWAYS go bigger.

I've never heard someone tell me their new TV is "too big" (wives/girlfriends excluded).

Well this is my first HDTV so I went with the budget Vizio 37". I will be sitting anywhere from 6ft to 8ft. I was okay with the size but I am thinking since I had to take it back anyway I might go a little bigger. Except I am considering going with a different brand now.

BTW there is nothing bu Wal-Mar,Kmart and Office Depot in my area so not much of a selection. I am considering a 42" Sanyo. Also the Vizio 37" was $767 and the 42" is $948, the $212 was just a rough guess after taxes.

Bigger for only $212 more for 5".

The kicker for me is when the TV size prices jump from 500-1000 plus for that extra 5-6 inches. Then, it seems less worth the extra money. Usually you don't see those large price jumps until you reach the 46-7" size plateau and above.

Is taking it back just for a refund an option? If you are paying those prices, you can get something WAY better from just ordering online. You could find a TV that's a much better brand AND a bigger size this way.

True but I don't like buying this sorta thing online. Had I bought the Vizio online I would be stuck with the stuck pixel. Wal-Mart I have 90 days to take it back. They offer the best return policy within 80+ miles.

Its Vizio, Sanyo or maybe RCA for a $1000 or under. Of course Office Depot has Westing House and Olevia but only a 15 day return policy. I took it back today and ended up with a refund since they was out of the 37".

Would you all get a Westinghouse SK-42H330S 42" over a Sanyo, Vizio, ect? Office Depot has one on sale tomorrow for $849 out the door tomorrow. Or a Sharp 37" for $899 out the door.

I think you should reconsider ordering online. Most places have a 30 day return policy. If those are the only choices though, I would wait, and save more cash.

I'm surprised you're so willing to admit you have to pay for it.

Dont buy westinghouse, sayo, Lilo or any of those other off brands for the same price or a few hundred dollars more i can recomend you a better longer lasting tv

Vizio 37" =$767
Vizio 42= $948

Serious Vizio and other off brand tv pricing is a joke. The price difference between a crappy off brand 720p flat pannel and the best of the best Name brand 720p is minimal.

Take that tv back and go to circuit city or where every and spend $1000 an get the Panasonic plasma TH-42PX75U it will smoke the picture quality on either of those TVs and almost any other name brand 720p flat pannel. Theres no reason to buy an off brand when you can get a plasma made by the best plasma manufacture in the United States.

I reciently saw an ABC news report on flat pannel tv's and they teamed up with consumer reports and tested 50 flat pannel tv's. You know who got 1st and 2nd place

1st Panasonic plasma 700U 1080p model
2nd Panasonic Plasma 42" and 50" PX75U 720p model

3rd was a sony LCD..
