if the 100k was put into a high yeild CD i would be there within the week 😱 ....500k for having an african safari is freaking awesome...sure they have shity for internet connectivity...and there are risks...but there are plenty of places in africa where you can be safe from most human-caused danger...as far as diseases...get some shots...dont have sex with anyone/thing...bring water purification tablets...etc...

serriously...it wouldnt be that bad...think of all the cool animals you could see/kill 🙂
 
Yep. Living overseas is great..although I am not keen to go back to the Horn of Africa real soon. 130+95% humidity+baking sun+entire population addicted to Qat = really really sucky place
 
My sister's living in Africa right now. She's in month 12 of 27. I don't know how much the Peace Corps pays her, though.

Watched "Ghosts of Rwanda" from PBS last night on DVD. What a terrible tragedy. I'd probably go if I didn't have any kids, but definitely not with little ones.

And that assumes I wouldn't have to work for the 100,000. I'd just as soon stay here and make half that working...
 
There's some parts of Africa that aren't that bad of course, but I assumed the OP was talking about the parts that were.
 
Hell yeah!!!!! I'd move to Kenya. $100K a year I could live like a freakin' king, and still save up a bundle.

Of course 5 years is nothing, I lived in Kenya before for 17 years. 😛
