This isn't regarding me personally, but a situation I know someone is in. He's trying to help a cousin come here and his significant other has big reservations about it.

So he is going to marry his cousin? He has done this before?

USCIS must be pretty dense if they can't figure this one out (though I wouldn't be surprised).

This carries some serious penalities if he is caught ($250k, 5yrs in prison), so his SO is right to be worried.

:hmm:

..so you're saying that I could get paid to be married to hot young asian lady for a few years? "Pretend to be married?" That means mandatory sex, right?

...and get paid?

:hmm:

This is from what I understand.

You agree <verbally of course> to marry a girl for certain amount of money. Her family pays you 1/2 up front. You and girl move to US and live as hubby and wife but only roommates in real life. After a couple years <I think at least 2 years IRRC>, she gets her green card, you get the 1/2 of the money then divorce girl. You happy with money, she happy with green card.

Of course if you and girl later fall in love for real then sex then babies = even better.

Oh, and when you agree to do this kind of transaction, the family is rich but the girl is ok but I would not say hot or maybe my standard is a bit high.
