I wouldn't do it, because $30,000 isn't enough money to get me to commit a federal crime. I would've done it for $50 when I was 14-16 though.

People are reading WAY too far into this. Yes, I'm sure it's much more complicated than what the OP offers, but that's not the question. The question is above, and my answer to said question is hell yes. If it were that simple, with no rules attached, you'd be crazy not to.

It is fairly complicated if it is done legally. VeggieFrog is an born American, with British Residency since 1989, working towards dual nationality. Her future husband is born British. They plan to live in the USA. They are working on the paperwork now, before they even marry....

it aint easy.

:)
He should just come across the Mexican border. It's easier and just as profitable to be an illegal in this country.

I thought the going price is 50k for citizen and 30k for greencard holder, 30k is definitely a discount.

the going rate is $10,000 now... and usually there are dime a dozen of guys willing to do this. the best ones are college guys who usually is tied down to a school for 4 years anyway.

you know those guys who do human transports for mexico? they exist in China too, aka as "snake head", they offer the green card service.

Suppose you were offered $30,000 USD to marry a foreigner for your american citizenship only. Would you guys/gals do it?

Ok here's the details...get married for 6 months until they receive their citizenship..and then divorce...that's it.
Hells yeah. I'm poor. I need a Switch. :(

Nope. First of all, I'm already married but even if I wasn't I wouldn't do this. Not worth the hassle.

$30k doesn't go as far as it did back in 2005 when this thread was born. Inflation = $45k now necromancer.

Also the risk is much higher today so the going rate is higher as well. You also have to stay married for longer and fake actually being with the person now.

Yeah, because posting on a public forum is a great way to avoid getting found out by immigration. Jesus

I wouldn't do it. I'm married already but if I were not married I wouldn't do it. First I wouldn't take the chance of getting into legal trouble and from what I understand they are much more strict on this now. I also wouldn't want to go through a divorce with someone that could battle me in court and take everything I own.
