Most likely. But, am I so bad to want to not live in the midst of white trash? I know most lower class people are good, and I have no problem with them, its just the "others" that I have problems with, and I would rather not live around them.
So basically, you're not even talking about an economically-divided society? Or are you? Because you said poor people are criminals, and now you're saying most of them are good, but there are some that aren't and you don't like those people.

Have you even been outside the gate at the front of your neighborhood? You sound like a sheltered 14 year-old, to be honest with you.

I am talking about an economically divided society. Can you read? I did not say poor people are criminals. I said most criminals (again I must specify, murderers, thieves, rapists) come from the lower class. Also, I would appreciate it if you would stop making simple minded assumptions of my character, and my background. I'm trying to be serious here.
Okay fine, but you're obviously not realizing what you're actually saying. Throwing out a statistic like "most criminals come from a poor background" so you therefore would like an economically segregated society is ludicrous. You could just as easily throw out a stat like "many criminals are black" and then say you don't want to live near black people for that reason. Being poor, or black, or whatever doesn't make you somehow automatically predisposed to criminal activity. Causation != Correlation. As already pointed out, the kids of your CEO neighbors could very well break into your house and steal your stuff because they were bored, not because they needed the money. Wealthy isolation will not insulate you from crime, sorry.

I realize this. I've seen criminals who are well off/wealthy. I, personally, would feel more comfortable living within my own social class. Not that is right, and i'm sure there will still be crime, but I think I would feel safer. I base most of my arguments on personal experience, as i've seen in and out of the justice system, that a high percentage of the crime in my town is in the "ghetto."

God I hope this guy doesn't go into or isn't already in politics. Your utopian society for the wealthy is full of flaws. I am sure secretly (or perhaps not so secretly) your other desire is to segregate by races so you and the good ole boys can share boring stories of your golfing adventures and polo matches.

Again, you're not defining the type of crime. For every crackhead who steals $50 from a purse, there's a CEO defrauding investors of $50 million.

I'm obviously exaggerating, but you hopefully see my point. The CEOs of this world probably won't steal your car, but who's to say their overall negative economic impact on society isn't actually greater than that of the crackheads? "Dennis Kozlowski" or "Ken Lay" ring any bells? How many crackheads would it take to equal the economic damage done by Enron? Quite a few, I'd say.

An excellent point, Fausto. You know white collar crime is not any concern to him as long as a crackhead can't get a "pass" to his exclusive neighborhood. What's a few million here or there taken from the little people?

What do you mean by segregated? Society is already segregated economically in certain senses. Without low-income people their can be little service industries in an area because no would be able to work them. Without high-income people the place would have no buisness because no one could afford to go their. Also rich people pay the taxes that pay for a good deal of community servieces.

I see your point, and it is a good one. Personal experiences have "blinded" me per say, so it is hard to see the bigger picture, especially when it does not directly affect me. But then again, if we were all divided by our social class, income, etc..I would not be affected by the white collar crimes commited by CEO's, because I am not in their income range. However, it would be impossible, because it would be to difficult to seperate the rich, from the richer, and the poor from the poorer. The crimes done by the rich, has the power to affect us all, where the crimes commited by the poor (crackhead who steals a purse) would only affect a few people. This of course is generalizing, but, I understand the point you made.

😀
